Why is it un-american to dislike Reb Beach
The riff on Seventeen alone is worth the price of admission
Re: Why is it un-american to dislike Reb Beach
Mr Beach is an American institution and if one disrespects him they may as well be pissing on our flag. Nobody represents the ideals, ethics, and dreams of the Founding Fathers like Reb.
They don't talk about it much, but Reb also has a very dedicated and rapidly expanding following in the black community. It makes all the sense in the world if you really look into it with an open imagination.
Bottom line...Reb knows what time it is...and it isn't time to surrender!

His soloing on “Headed For a Heartbreak” and “Without the Night” does it for me. Absolutely killer stuff.

After hearing the solo on Headed For A Heartbreak, it is impossible to not like Reb Beach. One of the best solos of the entire 80s metal canon.

Reb is top shelf. A master and one of my favorites. I’ve seen him live many times over the decades.

Are we sure Mike Slammer didn’t play on this album?
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Yeah, but you have to listen to Headed For a Heartbreak to hear it. I've never made it to the solo.Van Ailin' wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 8:54 pm After hearing the solo on Headed For A Heartbreak, it is impossible to not like Reb Beach. One of the best solos of the entire 80s metal canon.

I remember my guitar teacher said he liked the guitar player from Winger but not the singer. Maybe he was a foreign spy. Would Reb have gone Platinum without Kip?

I think Beau Hill would’ve put him in Warrant.

Re: Why is it un-american to dislike Reb Beach
My guitar teacher in early 90s met him at an in store. Reb did a guitar
thing and took questions. My teacher said he asked the following after Reb said he doesn’t use pinky on left hand. He asked him “what’s it like to use 3/4 of your ability?”
Not sure I believe it 100%. As this guy was full of shit a lot. And he is so focused on theory that he wouldn’t play with feel. Reality is a good song is a good song and who cares how you get there ?

Reb’s solo on “What Comes Back Around” is some of his greatest work.

80s metal fans who dislike that particularly Winger song are those who particularly lack any discernment - hence are likely to be poisoned by Poison. Some might argue that all 80s metal fans lack discernment but not on this board.sirthx2 wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 11:53 amThe fuck does Poison have to do with anything?
Re: Why is it un-american to dislike Reb Beach
Fair. But besides the virtuosity, under the broad umbrella I don't see them very different. Mugging for the video camera with pearly-whites singing about 17 year-olds. I know, I know, who didn't? But Kip for whatever reason rubbed me the wrong way.Van Ailin' wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 2:20 pm80s metal fans who dislike that particularly Winger song are those who particularly lack any discernment - hence are likely to be poisoned by Poison.
