Made the trek to Ottawa to see Wage War/Volbeat/3 Days Grace on Sunday.
Is billed a a co headline tour with them switching closer each night and each playhing around 1;20.
I was going mainly to see Volbeat, and was bit disappointed they were not the closer.
Went with some friends, and my kids ,20 and 25, who had never been to an arena rock show.
Right away you could tell this was a massive 3 Days crowd, I’d guess 90% of shirts were theirs.
Was gonna skip Wage War. Didn’t think anyone I went with would like them, but they wanted to see it all.
7pm Master of Puppets starts just blasting for a few minutes, then WW comes on. VERY heavy. Circle pits, Crowdsurfing. I’d guess arena half full, and people really into them. Cookie monster vocals with the poppy chorus’.
Everyone I was with just loved them..
8pm Volbeat comes on. They sounded great and started with some really heavy songs. Warriors Call / Booze Booza
Played for 1;20 and while they were really good, was disappointed in the setlist.(I don’t look before I go) They went a bit too heavy and maybe 1 new song too many. Crowd was really into them though.
Consensus in our group that, while they were really good. Wage war was better.
9:40 3DG come on and opens with Animal I have become. Place went nuts, everyone jumping and singing. I forgot they had the original singer back and were going with 2 singers. Gontier runs around like a madman.
I like 3DG, but I had forgotten how many “hits” they had. The 2 singers played off each other perfectly. Some songs solo, but most they sang together, and they sounded amazing.
Highlight might have been Gontier doing a solo acoustic version of Rooster.
As I mentioned in other thread, no one had phones out. Just everyone singing and having a great time. It doesn’t bother me, was just a bit jarring to see no phones. At one point, my daughter asked if we were allowed to take some video cause she thought it was banned..
Anyways, if you are even a casual 3dg fan, I’d highly recommend checking out this tour. Prices are reasonable…but not much of a production..3dg didn’t even have a back drop.
I’d guess about 8 to 10K. Floor and first 2 levels full and 3rd deck on the sides were pretty packed.
My son loves 3dg and loved their set, but he liked Wage war a lot more.
Everyone else raved about 3dg being the best and WW being second best with Volbeat being good, but a bit long.

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"
