As long as I'm learning something, I figure I'm OK - it's a decent day.

Still can't believe Jon Levin is hanging in there... he's a great player and he should be in a much better organization.
He was a fucking lawyer before this. He's live action roleplaying as a real metal guitarist. He's got all the street cred of John5.

This was at the Arcada in St Charles, Illinois. I was there. It was a good show despite Don's limitations. If you're going expecting to see 1988 Dokken, then yes... you will be highly disappointed and feel ripped off. By now everyone knows what you're getting with Don. The guy can barely get around. Aside from that, it seemed like him and George were having a great time together on stage. I went because I've never seen Dokken and figured why the hell not.

I'm glad I saw Dokken at the Toy Tiger in Louisville back in '95. They were on that first reunion and really playing with good energy. Don sounded excellent on that tour, and George and Jeff were arguably playing better than they did in the 80s. Jeff was quite a bit more solid. It was a great show. I've liked some of the new music Don has done in recent years, especially the reunion song with Jeff and George and Mick. But I'm not into seeing the current live experience, not like that. I can deal with the lack of movement on stage, and we know why that is. Rather, it's the singing itself. Hell, Stephen Pearcy is sound better and more energetic these days.Zander Kelly wrote: ↑Sat Jun 28, 2025 4:54 pm This was at the Arcada in St Charles, Illinois. I was there. This. I listened to a few of those clips, and while George clearly can still play, he sounded awful. Dunno if that was just some temporary thing with one of the guitars, but I'm surprised he didn't notice and try to fix it between songs.Van Ailin' wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 8:40 pm Never mind that George is also out of tune a few times in that final run.
Also was seeing a lot of people comment that Don had had a stroke? Which, would explain some of that, but I thought he just had the back operation issues, I don't recall hearing about a stroke, too?
