Any Sludger’s see Clapton in the early 90’s?
Clapton did 32 or so show’s in 90/91. Was this tour or the American run sponsored by Michelob? Remember seeing the commercials.
My uncle had a messy divorce in late 90. He looked like this version of Clapton, tan and all, no beard. Definitely no Armani suits.
Band was cooking back then, Nate East on bass.

I bought tickets, good seats.
Broke up with my girlfriend, not realizing that she had the tickets at her apartment. Wasn't worth the hassle to try to get them back.
Unfortunately, that was the last time that Clapton was interesting.

Yeah, he was good. 88 Crossroads tour with Knopfler was good too.

Saw him plenty on MTV growing up
He was out of place and awful

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

My one and only time to see him play live was during the tears in heaven era of him touring. It was a good show, packed out in a 16K seat area and his band was tight. I think he looked a bit like what was in the original clip in this thread too.

I've never really been into Clapton solo. When I was younger I did like Cream. I loved the production on those old rock albums. Clapton seems like such a miserable prick that it just makes him unlikable for me.

Only time I have seen him live was the 1990 tour and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Solid setlist that did a good job of covering his career.
Pretending
No Alibis
Running on Faith
I Shot the Sheriff
White Room
Can't Find My Way Home
Bad Love
Before You Accuse Me
Old Love
Tearing Us Apart
Wonderful Tonight
Cocaine
Layla
Crossroads
Sunshine of Your Love
The arena usually had open seating, but this was the only show I ever went to that had assigned seats and ended up at the back of the arena. Worst seats I have ever had at the venue, but a few weeks before that show, I saw Paul McCartney in a stadium from the second to last row on the side, so it seemed intimate in comparison.

Saw him in '87 at Royal Albert Hall in the middle of a multi-night stand on the August tour. Mark Knopfler played with him, and they played I Want My MTV and Sting came out for the backup vocals which was a pleasant surprise. Steve Winwood also joined the band for a few songs. I was impressed by how smooth a player he was. All in all, not as big of a Clapton fan as in the 70's, but it was a good show in a classic venue. Also saw him in '88 back in Canada with the same band. It was all very slick and professional, but not very rock and roll obviously.

I've never seen him, nor have I cared to, but that will change in October. I got a buddy who loves him so I'm going. Obviously, I know all the popular tunes but I really only liked his 80's material. Forever Man, Pretending, It's In the Way That You Use it, that stuff.
