I remember reading in some magazine Slash & Duff being dissatisfied with Adler. They played with Kenny Arnoff and realized what it felt like to be with a “good” drummer.

Funny how even the top of the heap always want to change things.
GNR were the biggest band around and had the sales to
Prove it.
Maybe they didn’t think they were tight enough live. But their type of music is always gonna be looser than Metallica, etc.
People just need to stay in their lane.
Or shut up & sing

Axl had a wildly different vision for the band by the time UYI came around. He was listening to Nine Inch Nails and Ministry and shit.

The reason Slash's Snakepit came to be was that Axl basically didn't want to do anything that sounded like AfD/Lies, but that's pretty much all that Slash writes.
Obviously, someone in the band wasn't (Axl) looking to get an Adler alike, but the general consensus of the fan base would rather someone who played similar to the guy who was a big part of the sound of their 30 million selling debut rather than some with the exact opposite style, feel, and sound.

Snorum sounds like a robotic drum machine which is the complete opposite of Adler.
Adler may have sounded good on Appetite for Studio Tricks but neither him nor the band overall sounded great live in 87-88. I remember Slash saying in an interview (Metal Hammer?) that it was much easier playing live with Fred Coury because he knows what Coury is going to play while Adler speeds up and slows down...

Is he related to Eric Singer by chance?

What I got out of it is that the guy is completely self-absorbed. I was surprised that he had the power to guilt Duff into avoiding him. He was like, "Duff don't fuck me on this reunion!" But the decision wasn't Duffs and he didn't want to deal with Matt's shit. Matt acts all butt hurt and betrayed but why the hell does he think that anyone from Guns n' roses is obligated to him. Getting that gig gave him a career, but he was never entitled to it.
And the band made a mistake very early on by telling Matt he would be an equal partner which required the intervention of Doug Goldstein. So that's another thing Matt is better about

And personally I don't believe Elizabeth Taylor grabbed Matt's dick. And if in fact it never happened then that dude is straight up piece of s*** a******

I'm starting to wonder if classic (AFD/Illusions era) GnR was an all-asshole band like Kiss, Journey or Mötley.

Slash and Duff are pretty good at making themselves look like the good guys (and victims of Axl's power games) but then there are stories like Sorum's about them.

Izzy could be the exception. Or is he? He stayed pretty quiet but bailed when the band needed him and wasn't easy to work with it seems. I don't count Gilby even if he joined during the Illusions tour.

Never liked him. Boring, vanilla drummer who when he joined Gn'R, looked as ridiculous as he sounded. I LOVED the 1st Snakepit album and thought Eric Dover sounded great. Loved his gritty vocals. The fact that Sorum thought he was responsible for anything with Guns is just ridiculous. Scab drummer at best. Glad he was not included in the re-union.

Well Axl was the Gene control freak.

Slash/Duff were like Ace/Peter - drunk/high all the time.

Izzy was like Mick Mars - the quiet, enigmatic dude. He "wasn't easy to work with" because no one could work with Waxl.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.
