Jani Lane - Reworked Songs AMAZING!

Post by Rob Lane »

Producer Extraordinaire CHRIS LANEY has reworked some classic JANI LANE songs and just WOW!!!

"With the heartfelt blessing of his daughter Maddi, I’ve reimagined some songs in Jani’s spirit — how Warrant might sound today if he were still writing, still singing, still leading with soul.
He was Warrant. A poet. A firestarter. A genius. This is just the beginning. More is coming"

I'm happy that somebody is messing around with the Jabberwocky songs, and that his daughter is cool with it, but also, maybe just release the original Jabberwocky songs in high quality. I don't need a "reimagined" version with a shitty AI video. Just release the original tracks as Jani had written them. If Jani wanted them to sound like Warrant, he would have done it himself.

Also, I've never heard of "producer extraordinaire Chris Laney." I guess he's that extraordinary that nobody knows who he is.

"""""""""""producer extraordinaire Chris Laney"""""""""""""

Chris is a superb guy, awesome musician, studio wizard and more. Nothing but nice things to say about him.

I have worked with Chris on a few things... he did some stuff for Shameless, and a few solo songs I did...

Including, everyone's favorite... Chris mixed "Shag-A-Doo Loli Pop" for those keeping score. :D

Chris Laney is an awesome producer (for 80's hair band inspired music), and should be the "go-to-guy" for any of the bands we talk about on these boards looking to put out a decent album.

The albums he produced for Zinny J. Zan (ex. Shotgun Messiah) and Steevie Jaimz (ex. Tigertailz) are great (songs and production).

And his 2 solo albums are really good.

Private Blue World is my favorite Jabberwocky song, so that was cool - especially with the lyrics because I could never figure out that line "stand in line to be the next heart that she breaks"!

I reluctantly clicked on Blue World but damn. Pretty good.

100% this. Just release them already. Don't need any fan edits 20 years after the fact while the originals sit unreleased.

The songs were written in a completely different style.... redoing them to make them sound like Warrant doesn't work.

Next “new” song is out.
Changes.
I already had two versions of this song. The demo and the final version.

This is interesting and it’s alright , but I still like Jani’s final version better.
It should be noted, though that unlike all the others, this is not a Jabberwocky track.

I'm loving it. I hope Very Fine Line, Comfortable With Sad and the obscure God's Girlfriend gets this new treatment.

And if someone knows where to find God's Girlfriend, please, tell me.

I’m sure I have that minute and a half version of that tune.

Jani pitched many of these songs to Warrant but they refused to record them. That's one of the reasons why Keri Kelli (who was in the band for half a year) left. He and Jani wrote the Back Down to One album as a Warrant record but Jerry and Erik didn't like any of the songs and only agreed to record Face and Subhuman as part of the cover album Under the Influence. From what i heard Jerry and Erik were angry about Jani not accepting any of the songs they were writing (most of which ended up on the Born Again record) so out of spite they rejected most of the songs Jani was writing. Wish Jani could've come to a compromise and recorded a few of their songs (Angels would've sounded good with Jani singing) in exchange for them doing his and Keri's songs.

All of the Jabberwocky songs are better than any of the Back Down to One songs.

He started recording material for this project in 1993. Some songs that he had planned for Jabberwocky ended up being recorded for Ultraphobic and Belly to Belly.

One of the songs Fingerprints was originally going to be on a planned follow up to Belly to Belly before the band refused to record anymore of Jani's songs.
