Quiet Riot's ''Down to the Bone''
Any plans on reissuing or remastering this? I like the songs but the production isn't good. The guitars need to be louder and there needs to be less reverb.
Saw them on this tour and was surprised to see them play a song from the Randy Rhoads era ''Last Call for Rock 'N' Roll''.

IMO, "Down to the Bone" is underrated, and Quiet Riot's most consistent album (which in both cases isn't saying much..........)

No, that's "10".
Down to the Bone is the second album released after DuBrow got the rights back to the band name in the mid 90s.

Re: Quiet Riot's ''Down to the Bone''
Was excited to buy this when it came out. Carlos was one of my first guitar heroes.... will always have a soft spot for QR.
Kevin did a good job producing and Carlos, Chuck and Frankie sound great, but it was the usual problem - songs weren't there.
"Slam Dunk" is one of the worst songs ever written - pathetic "Cherry Pie" ripoff. "Pack of Lies" was embarrassing grunge pandering. and listening back to it now... I forgot there was a song with a STEEL DRUM intro.
The fact that they were ever able to come up with something as good as "Metal Health" is testament to God being real. HAD to have been divine intervention.

I’m not familiar with the rights to the band. Who was in control of the rights before Dubrow got it bacK?Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 8:13 amNo, that's "10".

Re: Quiet Riot's ''Down to the Bone''
Seems like when they broke up in 1989, DuBrow still had a claim to the band name, even though he'd been fired, so he was able to take Banali, Cavazo and Sarzo to court. I assume there was some sort of argument about, "well, if they're not going to use the name, I should be able to."ParaDime77 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 4:33 pm

Re: Quiet Riot's ''Down to the Bone''
Around that time Kevin started the band Heat with Carlos Cavazo. They played a lot of Quiet Riot songs live and the new songs they were playing ended up on Terrified and Down to the Bone. The drummer at the time Bobby Rondinelli flipped out at my friend when he asked him if he was the new Quiet Riot drummer. He left shortly after they went back to the Quiet Riot name.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 5:57 pmSeems like when they broke up in 1989, DuBrow still had a claim to the band name, even though he'd been fired, so he was able to take Banali, Cavazo and Sarzo to court. How is this not played in every NBA stadium?:
Slam dunk - way to go!
What do ya say, Let's rock 'n roll
Well I come to play and I play to win
Just say the word and I'll stuff it in
I'm gonna slam it all the way
Dunk it, what do you say
When the whistle blows I'm gonna fly the coup
Just pump me up and watch me shoot
Slam it - Touch the rim
Dunk it - Thrust it in
I won't sing no sweet romantic song
But I can do ya, I can do ya
You'll never know right from wrong
Here we go
Slam dunk way to go
What do you say, let's rock 'n roll
Slam dunk climb the pole
Drive through the middle and jam it home
Slam dunk
Take control, pick it up baby
Let's do it some more
Pick it baby, Let's do it some more
That's right
Slam dunk - way to go!
What do ya say, Let's rock 'n roll
Well I come to play and I play to win

Quiet Riot's discography, except for Metal Health, is embarrassing.

Also, Metal Health's riff and bones were brought in from Carlo's band Snow, which is why his brother also has a writing credit.

Yeah, I know Metal Heath (the album) has it's fans (somehow), but apart from the title track and the cover, I think the rest is Ruff Cutt bad. Keel bad. White Tiger bad.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 5:55 amIf they were buying songs, the rest of the songs on Metal Health would have been way better!LurkingAtWork wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 2:46 amOr Proffer buying songs like he did for W.A.S.P.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 10:05 am The fact that they were ever able to come up with something as good as "Metal Health" is testament to God being real. Quiet Riot's discography, except for Metal Health, is embarrassing."Slick Black Cadillac" is the second best original song on the album and it's a song from when they were unsigned.

^ Yes. I wore out the tapes of those first two albums as a teenager, but they don't hold up at all. Rough Cutt is about right.
I think I've seen QR something like 15 times - albeit sometimes unintentionally (they were opening), and I've been saying for years: they don't have the songs to fill a 45 minute set, let alone an hour and a half, and they really should do at least 50% classic rock and metal covers - ACDC, Judas Priest, Dee Purple, etc.

It was recorded first as a bonus track for ''Down to the Bone''. Then Kevin had an idea it could be a hit single for them so he re-recorded it for the reunion album ''Alive and Well''.jhenders wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 2:05 amThis song was actually on their next album, "Alive and Well"; not "Down to the Bone".Dr. Hollywood wrote: ↑Tue Jul 22, 2025 8:08 pm How is this not played in every NBA stadium?:

I don't know why I know this but it's actually a song that Kevin wrote. "The band that shall not be named" recorded it for the movie SWITCH and it appeared in the basketball scene.
I think he was shopping songs around because another song he wrote called "Love Can Change You" was recorded by a band called Juliet.
