He was there as a giant in the industry paying tribute to another giant in the industry. It was showing respect for him to take time out of his life to fly to another continent and perform at an event expressly convened to honor Ozzy.

It's no different to that horrendous tribute album called KISS MY ASS that Gene and Paul created for themselves with a bunch of c and d-level acts. None of those acts had anything to do with KISS.

He didn't cover a Sabbath song or an Ozzy song. He failed. He wasn't needed and he didn't fit in. Sabbath and/or Ozzy solo had no influence on him or his band.


The KISS tribute cd contained one of the biggest selling artists of all time (Garth Brooks).

Lenny Kravitz. Stevie Wonder. Anthrax. Extreme. Newer bands at that time (Gin Blossoms and Toad The Wet Sprocket). All gold and platinum selling artists. Independent/underground bands (Lemonheads, Dinosaur Jr., Bosstones). A diverse group of artists and bands. All KISS fans who were influenced by KISS' music and stage productions.
