Ozzy funeral

Post by El Vampiro Blanco »

Anyone watching the funeral?
It's insane! The streets are completely crowded, thousands there to say goodbye.
The family coming out to see the flowers was emotional.

Sharon looks worse than my 85 year old Mom when my Dad died. She looked that way before Oz died.

What a great send off for an incredible man.

His kids seem to be holding it together pretty good. Sharon isn't.

Is it safe to predict she might join him within the next year?

Anyway, a like I said, a great send off for an incredible man. We will miss you so much Ozzy!!!!

I love Ozzy’s voice and classic Sabbath, but it’s sad how the least talented member of that band (by far) is being treated like royalty just because he was on a silly reality show with his annoying family. I heard so many people talking about his death that can’t name 3 Sabbath or Ozzy songs.

Geezer is a bass god, Iommi invented Metal and Bill was a beast who played as much or as little as the songs called for. The three of them influences countless musicians. Unfortunately, they won’t get half the love when they pass on. I’m not trashing Ozzy, but it’s the truth. Then again, even EVH’s death didn’t get as much attention.

I think that Ozzy was royalty even before the TV shows. Ozzy had mostly a good ear for (other people's) songs and was lucky enough to find great musicians to work with.

Yes. Being in a giant band, and then having a solo career that eclipses the giant band is a rare feat that few have done, and none to the level of Ozzy. Robert Plant was successful solo and only did a fraction of his numbers.

Bill playing as much or as little as the song called for? Sure, that compares to putting out the sextuple platinum Blizzard of Ozz, i guess?

I've been on a Sabbath/Ozzy deep dive for a while now (I'm sure I'm not alone  )

One thing that struck me about Geezer that I've never thought about before is how being in a band with Tony obviously influenced him, many of his parts follow the guitar line to some degree.

So not only is he a bass god, but he is getting lines directly from the head riff god!!

Ozzy was like a cat. How many times did he cheat death, or do enough drugs and booze that it should of killed him? Dude had a good life. I saw someone say once, If guys LIke ozzy and Keith Richards can out live Richard Simmons. It makes you question the whole eat right and exercise.

Jesus time flys by so fast. We are loosing all the Rock and Roll Greats. He have lost allot of sludgers as well.

For every Keith Richards or Ozzy, there are a million who did the same thing and died at 30 or 40. You're always gonna find somebody who goes, "he smoked everyday until he was 95 and ate meat for every meal" but for 99.9% of the world's population it doesn't work that way. Same thing when people go, "he worked out all the time and he still had a heart attack and died at 50." There's always going to be the exceptions but the science and math is in your favor to do the opposite of anything that Ozzy has ever done.

Thanks for typing this.

I'm sick of hearing people saying "well my Uncle Jack smoked like a chimney and enjoyed his whiskey and he lived until 88!". These are the outliers, not the norms.

The Osbournes could've at least waved and thanked all those people for showing up to pay their respects. I understand that they are grieving, but all those people showed up to pay Tribute and show their support to the whole family. They could've at least acknowledged the goddamn audience. Also, that is a sharp looking hearse!

It is my belief that Birmingham might be the most important city in the last 60 years as far as music goes. Ozzy/Sabbath, Judas Priest, Nick Mason, Steve Winwood, John Bonham, ELO, The Moody Blues, DURAN DURAN, and others. That is a pretty solid list of bands/musicians.

edit: I didn't realize it had a population of around a million people. I thought it was much smaller. Still that is a lot of great music that has emerged from there.

It wasn't an awards show. I can't recall feeling thankful for anything when family members have died. It's stressful, sad, and a whirlwind of tasks and chaos.
