Mob vs Madman
Second album head 2 head:
I picked Heaven barely over blizzard
I pick Diary over mob
I picked Heaven barely over blizzard
I pick Diary over mob

Today - Mob.
40 years ago - Madman, hands down. There was nothing that sounded like that when it came out!

Same... Goodbye to Romance ruins Blizzard for me... Here, Over and Over ruins Mob Rules.DangerZone wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 7:43 pm Second album head 2 head:

Same. Bought it during a school trip to Amsterdam and was amazed when I listened to it when I got home.
The sound, the guitars, the lyrics, the cover, it was mind blowing to me.

Diary… easily here. Mobs Rules has a great title track, but nothing like the best moments on Diary…

There was something magical about “Diary Of A Madman” created by Randy and Bob . I have never grown tired of it , and love every track. Mob Rules has some killer tracks…, just not enough to beat Ozzys best.
Re: Mob vs Madman
I went with Heaven over Blizzard.
But Mob was not Heaven and Hell: Diary is the better album.

I was showing my dad some material from Diary the other day. Over The Mountain in particular, you just kind of go section by section of that song, “awesome, awesome, holy shit that’s awesome…” (imagine hearing that solo section for the first time!)
And then the title track is one of the coolest songs ever written.
For me it wins over every other Ozzy album and even most Ozzy-era Sabbath albums, so it definitely wins over Mob Rules.

Lee had a lot more input on Diary and that is rarely mentioned. He helped with melodies and arrangements and he was a really good singer. Here's a clip of the band during a writing session without Ozzy and Lee is singing Flying High Again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I2Lwgk ... rt_radio=1kytepunches wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 7:51 am There was something magical about “Diary Of A Madman” created by Randy and Bob .
