Halestorm - Darkness Always Wins

Post by Slippery Pete »

I actually don't mind the song, but that chorus sounds like something else and I can't figure out what song it is. A few other people agree, but nobody can nail it down. Any ideas?

It's got a Katy Perry vibe in there early on. Or a pop singer like her.

Yeah maybe, I was thinking Pink or something like that.

I saw Halestorm open for Alice Cooper in 2019. They just don't have the songs. This one isn't good either.

There are so many bands that get literally no attention that have churned out multiple quality albums with great songs, but for some reason I'm always reading about Lizzy Hale.

If Lzzy is gonna let everything hang out then she should at least get her tits done. They don't match the junk in her trunk.
A solid C cup would be enough....

On a serious note (not that tits aren't serious) that girl has some pipes. This track could easily be in any Marvel movie.

You people are HIGH!

Every song on Everest is a hit.

The band is 28 years old, they’ve won a Grammy, had top 10 albums, they could have made a career touring the hits from their second album and the same can be said about Everest so the hits are definitely there.

I really could have done without the "In the Air Tonight" intro, but the rest of the song is fine.

Whoever is doing marketing for them completely dropped the ball though. I went into Rolling Stones last night to pick up a few new releases, and I had NO idea they had a new album out. I knew one was coming due to the Ozzy performance, but other than that, I'd heard nothing.

I kind of feel it's the production of their songs. There is some good stuff on "Everest" but if it had the production of Metallica's black album, it would make the songs so much better. So maybe it just comes down to being better produced? Having bigger sounding drums? I don't know. "Everest" sounds like it's really close to being a great record but something is missing. I still enjoyed it, but Halestorm always seems like they're on the verge of really blowing up but they never do.

I agree mostly. I do like this song, but I've tried to get into them otherwise and nothing really pumps me up other than the cover of Slave to the Grind. I remain a fan of Lzzy, however.

I've been saying the same thing. The melody of the chorus is awfully familiar. It was definitely lifted from something but can't figure what it was.

She sounds great covering metal artists, but I couldnt get through this bullshit. Everything they do seems to be "what ingredients do we need to make this popular?" instead of writing something unique or interesting.

I agree… it seems like she is trying so hard to be rock n roll but in reality they are a high school talent competition band

I will double down and say there is no way in hell they have any fans in this demographic…. There might be some girls that like rock that dig them, and that is awesome, but they are d-standard (not the guitar tuning) foo fighters with a big toothed gummy gal that tries to be metal and so “rock”

There will be some baby metal fan that will come out of the basement and scream “lzzy” is a better guitarist than you… she probably is, I am actually amped for them…they get some really nice tour deals… but they seem kinda like a smokescreen band… “bro do you have the new Halestorm album… no man I have been cranking too much Kittie”… they have no songs, but they get gigs

I don’t hear it.

I’m tripling down the best album since Appetite, every song is a hit.

The famous old and new school rock stars that know her say she’s the real deal.

Halestorm has been around 28 years … playing clubs, playing parking lots, playing anywhere they could … every band wants a “RnR All Nite” or “Stairway To Heaven” … can’t blame her for trying, we all did it back in day and she’s still doing it.
