Dana Strum recounts Ozzy/Randy audition

Post by Venus Flytrap »

Ozzy was so wasted that whenever he tells the story it's a little different each time. Dana tells it with such detail and a spot on Ozzy impression you just picture it all as he's telling it. He adds everything leading up to it too. It's a fun video. Just stumbled across it.

Thanks for posting. Great story.

I had no idea that Dana went back so far in the music biz.

Yep, thanks for posting that. Very cool. Dana does a very passable Ozzy impression.

Prior to Vinnie Vincent invasion, what was Dana Strum known for? How was he so well connected?

The band he was in in the 1970s, Bad Axe, did "ok" on the strip and played alongside the likes of VH, QR, etc. Strum auditioned for Ozzy but although he didn't make the cut he obviously hung around.

Who was the guy in Laurel Canyon that sang Hendrix?

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Wasn’t Dana a limo driver for some celebrity back then when he was getting his foot in the door? It appears he has some really cool stories that go way back.

If i remember correctly, dana gets a finders fee for life for that meeting. As others did for other bands.
