Which Band Has Aged Gracefully And Still Has Some Dignity Left?

Post by LitaStrauss »

Which of the following bands have aged the most gracefully and they still have some dignity left? They're older but they're not a shell of their former selves.

I picked Maiden but could have also gone with Metallica, Alice Cooper or Tesla.

Def Leppard--still making new music and putting on professional shows. On America's Got Talent I thought why can't Poison or Crue dress like Leppard sometime--they looked good for guys that are in their 60s.

Maiden has the new shitty drummer to go along with super goof Janick so they're disqualified already as far as I can tell.

Zeppelin. They (mainly Plant) knew when to stop.

Leppard, Metallica, Maiden and Winger. Bands that actually give an effort.

They didnt have as much dignity to lose. Hence the dignity amount is not dissimilar from the early days.

Bahaha. Neil croaking was the best thing that happened to them because it stopped Geddy from croaking.

I think that had a whole lot to do with record sales and radio airplay. Led Zep had no money concerns to entice them to tour.

They were constantly on the radio throughout the 80s and 90s generating income and then when CDs came out they were still selling huge amounts of records to new fans as well as old fans replacing their vinyl.

Pretty much. Their legacy was already secure by the time Bonzo croaked.

True, but Page was still a greedy pedo. Part of the reason he went with the Crowes is because he loved banging teenage girls while on the road with P/P and didn't want to stop. Plant was the main gatekeeper of the band's legacy and dignity.

My answer will not appease you at any point. Original members, man. A great live band. And I will stand on that.

Maiden, Priest, Def Leppard, Hagar and Winger. Scorpions up until recently

As much as I hate to admit it, Axl struggles vocally but the bands he’s had posing as GNR all these years have been top notch.

Did his band tour past its prime? No. That was the question.

Metallica. They still deliver live, look ok and somewhat recovered after all Reloads, Lulus and St Angers.

I considered Judas Priest too as the last two albums are great and the show I saw this summer was surprisingly good, but without Glenn and KK it just isn't the same band and Halford isn't an older version of the guy on stage in the 80s, it's like a different person up there as well.

AC/DC doesn't really belong on this list. At all. They have fallen hard in the last years. But they held up well into the Axl/DC era so they can get a free pass to some extent.

I love and respect Tesla, but as long as Brian Wheat is rockin' that dead racoon on his head, Tesla CAN NOT be a consideration!

Not only that but they are now only 3/5 original members and Jeff can't sing anymore. Unless you think Cartman is a good singer.

This. One of the best live bands in any genre still touring.

Yes, they did. Way past their prime. Their prime was around 1973. That’s being generous given his voice sucked after 1971.
