The Black Crowes singer is singing for Joe Perry playing Stone Temple Pilots.

This is all a bit convoluted if you ask me. I hope they cover the Johnny Cash version of Hurt next.

Somebody throw Joe Perry in the shower and brush his hair. Jesus Christ man... the guy looks horrible. Get off the monkey dust or whatever you're doing cuz it's taking its toll.

I went to night two and this is what I walked away thinking. Yes, the show was great and I got to see Joe Perry for the first time, however, I left thinking, "why?". As in, "why did I just watch Chris Robinson and Joe Perry playing Stone Temple Pilots songs?" I can get Chris singing with his classic rock soul, however, bringing in STP was a tad odd and didn't make sense.

Last night show was postponed just before showtime. Only mention of anything substantial was one, "get well soon, Chris" comment. Maybe Chris asked Joe to help write some Crowe's songs and Rich went ape shit. Ya', that's it.

They are playing songs by the bands that the JPP members were in .

Robert Deleo and Eric Kretz were in STP right ? I just think the STP song choices could have been better

What is strange is that Joe Perry project isn’t playing any JPP songs except LTMDTT and there again they are playing the Aerosmith version.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Sounds great. The keys player doing backing vocals sounds Tyler esque...

And that is why I walked away thinking, "why?" As in, why is Joe Perry playing w/ dudes from Stone Temple Pilots with the singer from the Black Crowes? I can see Chris singing and without any Crowes songs.

To me it is very simple why they did this run. Joe and Brad want to play some of their favorite lessor known tracks that they know there is an audience for with the JPP to fill clubs/theatres. Chris and Robert are happy to oblige as they are huge Aerosmith fans.

They know they only have a few more opportunities to go out and play these songs.

So then why play Crowes and STP songs and not (4) more JP or Aerosmith deep cut songs?

Record company BS, I'm guessing.

Probably out of respect to Chris and Robert’s careers. At the end of the day it felt like an Aerosmith show to me without the glitz and glam of the full on arena production.

No label has any saying what artists play live. Especially in this case I just can’t come up with a single reason why any outside would comment or even care what kind of setlist this band should do. It’s senior musicians ”just for fun” project without a record deal.

What’s the point of bringing people from established bands if they’re not going to play stuff from their bands?

Perry could hire a bunch of young nobodies for less.

GNR does a Velvet Revolver song.
Black Sabbath with Gillian did Smoke on the Water.

I bet a lot of people there haven’t heard anything from JPP. But they’ve probably heard the Black Crowes and STP songs.

The Crowes and STP songs got the best response at my show.

Right. I'm sure that the other band members haven't either. People like me would geek out if they played the whole 1st JPP album, but the crowd would go mild.
