Technically, Kendra Jade called me first, and told me they (Poison) wanted to talk to me... and I thought she was joking, but she wasn't.

The next call, I believe was from Scotty Ross, and then Bobby called me.

He gave me a set-list, and then had a Travel Agent call me, and she started asking info., like where I lived, would be flying from, etc..

There was even a "dollar amount" per show, discussed... Bobby asked, and I told him a price. I think they had like 5-6 shows left, and he thought Bret was going to not show.

Bobby also told me they were talking to Johnny Solinger as well.

Bobby asked in so many words... "What would you want to do this?"

And I said: "$1,000.00 per show, plus travel, room, etc..." , we had a lengthy phone chat, and as I stated above, I was put in touch with a travel agent who was going to be sorting my flights.

Honestly, I was totally on the fence with it, but at the same time, I told Bobby; "If I had to, I could go on stage tonight and sing 6-7 of these songs on the spot!"

I have a file folder in a filing-cabinet somewhere with some info. related to this, a set list, etc...

I think there were 5-6 shows left after this incident, which if memory is correct took place in Atlanta, and the next dates were in like Tennessee, Arkansas, etc...

I asked Bobby outright, "What does Rikki & C.C. think? My name being brought up would surely not be favorable to Bret's liking?"

Bobby said: "They think it's aweome!" Haha! And I did kind of laugh...

In the end I also asked: "Why don't you just cancel the final shows?" and Bobby said: "Our contract says Poison! 4 guys performing as Poison."

Then he said something like if they pulled out, or cancelled, that Live Nation could hold them liable... which is why a lot of bands throw someone up there to get through the show, to fill the contract for the night.

It was very out of the blue, and as I said above, I thought I was being pranked at first. But Kendra said, "No, they really want to talk to you."

She kind of explained, and then I am thinking it was Scotty Ross that called a few minutes later, he worked for Poison.

He gave me the short version and said: "Bobby Dall is going to be calling you... and my phone rang 2 minutes later."

This was 2006, today, that same $1,000.00 is $1,600.00.

I was pretty sure nothing would come of it, but... for the 24 hours or so, I entertained it. Why not.



Another Fun Fact: In 2000 I also auditioned for Ratt. And that too was an odd scenario, but I had heard Jizzy, Tramp, Mason and Ralph from SP were also lined up.

So I figured, why not give it a shot...

I talked to Crane, and he played Warren and Bobby "Tied To The Bells" but didn't tell them who it was. They both thought the song was cool and liked my voice.

Blotzer then called me, and invited me down... which I talked about this previously as well. I did 3 songs with them and it was filmed, with management there.

It was Warren, Blotzer, Crane, and Keri Kelli on the other guitar at some studio in the Valley! I did "Lay It Down", "Walkin' The Dog", and I think "Slip Of The Lip."

Oddly, Blotzer who was very cool on the phone, was kind of a dick at the audition, while Warren was SUPER COOL! I knew Crane and Keri, so all in all it went well.

Lastly, as the Die-Hard Crue fans might recall, who are over 45-50, there was a magazine that was published after Vince was canned, and the magazine was the entire history of Motley Crue, and what the future held as they searched for a new singer.

In that issue, they also named and wrote a few snippets on each singer, that the writers/publisher felt were a possible fit. Bach, Corabi, some others, and I was also included. Regardless of whoever wrote it, or how much I was liked, or disliked... it was a pretty cool feeling knowing that a band I was initially inspired by and had risen to that level of success, that a guy from Oshkosh was even remotely considered on any level!

It would be stupid to price himself out of it. If he gets the shows, it's a great experience that could lead to more.

It's not like it was playing just for tips, he didn't sign up to tour a whole year for 150 bucks a day like the Cradle of Filth crew.
