Fanbases suck

Post by SchenkerFan »

I get that people idolize music artists when going through puberty, I went through that phase too. But I have zero understanding for people who continue to act like that once they're adults. Acting all butthurt because someone says he doesn't like a song they dig, or suggests there are better musicians than the ones in their favorite band. It's pathetic. I'm sure there are still a few tards around here with KISS posters on their bedroom wall. Grow up.

One could easily argue people posting on message boards in their 50s about music they listened to while going through puberty should grow up as well.

The vast majority of KISS, Motley, or any other 80s type band have spent zero amount of time discussing them since they were teenagers. Most went on to have families and careers and now may occasionally spin a CD or catch a band when they blow through town every few years and that's about it.

I agree it's juvenile

But i think in a sense it's purposeful

Something inside that/those individuals wants to remain or remember or retain their youth

A childhood buddy of mine and I still follow bands like kiss but at the same time we laugh at their stupidity and how they've ruined their legacy etc. Just a slight example

Yeah but that's different. You can be a fan and still think the artist wrote crap songs, did stupid shit, or was just a shitty human being. That's different from those who idolize artists and elevate them to god-like status.

It's more a general problem with society now. Basically "if you don't agree with me, you're now the enemy" . Used to be just politics/religiion etc. People in general are just to wound up, and don't like to be disagreed with in any way

I'm not even a native English speaker, not aware of which words are no longer in fashion. Just using what I see on here.

I think it's another thing that has always been around but is now amplified and in-your-face bc of social media. The idea of "not my cup of tea" and I have other choices WHICH IS GREAT. Gone. People can no longer contain their thoughts since there are too many ways to turn them into rage.

The worst fans are Rush fans. I jammed with a drummer who yelled people who don't like Rush are morons.

Yep. I remember being underwhelmed by Presto in college and a guy almost got mad enough to fight about it.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.
