<band> would have been huge if <member> didn't die
Id like to say The Gits and Mia Zapata but the genre was too limiting so Mother Love Bone and Andrew Wood will do

Hanoi Rocks/Razzle
Re: <band> would have been huge if <member> didn't die
I appreciate the Mia Zapata nod, but that band was never gonna be huge. But they were good, I still listen to them.
I think the eventual Beatles reunion would have been HUGE if John Lennon didn’t die. >>>Pedos worldwide celebrating children’s music.<<<

One of the biggest bullshit myths in rock.
"Copying off of one person is called plagiarism.
Copying off of ten people is called research."

Would Mother Love Bone be as big as Pearl Jam if that guy didn't die?

No. Pearl Jam had great songs. MLB didn’t have anything worth note. Terrible band, but influential. I guess?Rocker4Real wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 5:43 am Would Mother Love Bone be as big as Pearl Jam if that guy didn't die?

It's been said often enough here that they were already falling apart due to their various addictions. Vince just gave them an extra nudge.

And the songs weren't there, either.

Agreed. Over rated. Not a Michael Monroe fan either. I respect his work ethic though.

Re: <band> would have been huge if <member> didn't die
When I think of musicians who died young, the ones that come to mind were already famous/successful when they checked out. Solo artists were obviously finished, but some of the bands with dead members replaced lost members and remained huge, or turned into something different like Pearl Jam or New Order.
The one I think about sometimes is Sublime. It is impossible to know what would have happened if Bradley Nowell hadn't overdosed, but could Sublime have put out another couple of great albums with catchy singles that could have propelled them into the upper tier of rock bands? Or, did they just happen to put out one "right place, right time" album that would never be followed up? Impossible to know.

Cliff Burton alive would have made Metallica not laughing stock of heavy metal world…Black cd and everything lame after wouldn’t have existed..I like to think
1/2 empty Hollywood Palladium for Nirvana 2025 would have been fun

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

Eddie & the Cruisers. Well, he didn't technically die. Eddie faked his death and became a construction worker in Canada under a new name. But had they kept recording.....

Mentors.
Seriously though I’ll go with Jeff Buckley. The timing was right and he was a really talented guy with the looks to be famous.

So why didn't they do anything before Razzle died? Two Steps From The Move didn't do jack before or after Razzle, and that was their fifth album.
I like them just fine, but Hanoi is the most overrated band ever.

You don't like Crown of Thorns or Stardog Champion?DemonFilth2001 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 7:13 amNo. Pearl Jam had great songs. MLB didn’t have anything worth note. Terrible band, but influential. Nah. If that was true, where was the follow-up?

Or, he would have left. Either because James' writing was changing or he wanted a different musical challenge..LAglamrocker wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 9:48 am Cliff Burton alive would have made Metallica not laughing stock of heavy metal world…Black cd and everything lame after wouldn’t have existed..I like to think
I really think that James was more on the bandwagon of thrash when Metallica formed and he was along for the ride...
After the influence of Mustaine (along with his riffs they wrote together) and Cliff faded away, the songwriting drifted to more of an organic place for James...more heavy metal/hard rock...
