Steven Tyler to Perform With Joe Perry Project at Hollywood Bowl Before The Who

Steven Tyler is expected to join Joe Perry on stage as a surprise performer during The Joe Perry Project’s opening set for The Who’s farewell show at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, a source close to the tour tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Tyler will come out as a special guest, the source says, and he’s expected to play three songs with Perry.

Performances from the “Toxic Twins” have become a rarity since Aerosmith announced they were retiring from the road last year, canceling the remainder of their farewell tour over an injury to Tyler’s vocal chords. Still, they’ve managed to reunite several times since then, both at a benefit show for Janie’s Fund back in May, and during the VMAs last week, joined by Yungblud as they paid homage to the late Ozzy Osbourne. Tyler sang Osbourne’s 1991 classic “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” with Yungblud joining him on vocals.

Tyler also made an appearance for Osbourne’s Back to the Beginning farewell show in Birmingham, England, over the summer, playing both “Walk This Way” and a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”

Reps for Perry and Tyler didn’t respond to a request for comment.

While they aren’t touring, Aerosmith shared a snippet of the upcoming single “My Only Angel” on Monday, a collaboration with Yungblud that will mark Aerosmith’s first new music in over a decade. Speaking at the Grammy Museum in New York this week, Yungblud himself said it was one of five songs he and Aerosmith recorded together.

The Joe Perry Project will open for the first of two Who farewell shows at the Hollywood Bowl this week, with The Offspring opening for the band at the second show this Friday. The legendary English rock band started the tour in August in Florida, and they’re expected to finish the North American leg of the tour with a show at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert on Oct. 1.

I paid $30 but kinda wish I sprung for a better seat. I might pay $100-150 ish to get into a box

Just walked into one last time but it kinda puts a slight damper on the fun too.

Now hopefully Tyler will show up and sing with The Offspring too Friday. Was actually going to go all in on this tour but might just go see the Circle Jerks Friday.

Awesome - look forward to your review as I know you have been to many many Aerosmith shows over the years. I loved the JPP show I got in Toronto nevermind adding Steven to the mix

Offspring were surprisingly great at the Forum a few weeks back. I don't know more than a handful of their songs, but the show was top-notch. Strange pairing with The Who, but good for them for playing the Forum and the Bowl in back-to-back months.
