Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I demoed one this afternoon. It sounded great on distorted tones, but was a bit of a tone suck when I used the clean channel. No tracking issues, but it kind of squashed the sparkle out of the clean side. I'm kind of "eh" about it. I didn't buy it, but haven't ruled out buying one. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the 200 bucks or if I should just take that 200 bucks and put it toward another guitar that I can set up in D. I'm always looking for a good excuse to buy another guitar.ElToro wrote:No weird tonal/tracking issues. Great pedal.

I love the Barber stuff. I've got a Dirty Bomb, an LTD, and a Direct Drive.
The Bomb will probably get sold off.

The Bomb was a bit too heavy for my tastes, but the LTD Special Recipe is the business. The stock Direct Drive rocks too. Most of their stuff is awesome and a great price too. Comp wise, I like their Tone Press.Jack Drugless wrote:Captain Morgan wrote:The Distortron - it's a variation on the Box of Rock. El Toro,
What did you get for your San Dimas?
I'm thinking of trading my 2006 Gibson Explorer. It's gorgeous and just sitting there. I've got my attention turned to the two projects I'm building and she's lonely.

If you're playing hard rock or metal, check out the Barber Dirty Bomb pedal.
It's a great pedal, (adjustable internal bass 'thump' pot, replaceable opamp chip,
killer sustain that doesbn't fart out), I just have too many like it.

I came across an early 80's Ibanez Artist electric 12 string the other day. Didn't go down on it though.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Hello again guitardeds!
After a couple months, Spanish customs and whatnot, I finally have the third member of the Warmoth family home! Behold the Family portrait:

Left to right:
- Warmoth Strat, one piece ash body (superlight) and Häussel Blues pups. A great strat guitar which I bought cheap in another guitarded forum.
- The latest addition courtesy of ElToro, Tokai mahogany body from 83 (according to serial in the back), Warmoth neck and PRS Dragon pups. Plays awesome and I was in desperate need of a humbucker guitar after having sold my Les Paul and my ES335-S Firebrand. It has been a supercool addition to the family!
- Warmoth TikiTele, one piece ash body (superHEAVY) and Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pups. It's the first Warmoth I ordered and wanted a vintage looking guitar with powerful modern innards. It's a fucking monster, let me tell you.
Not on the photo is a Warmoth PBass with Basslines Hot pups. Plays a charm.
From here I want to thank ElToro for his help during the shipping process, and here's a more detailed photo of the new baby:

Thanks guys. Toro, I would definitely appreciate that. If you could drop me a PM with a few specs, exact model, etc. Nothing fancy, just enough info to track them down myself on the net will be enough. Thanks!ElToro wrote:She rings like Spinal Tap... "do you hear the sustain, do yo hear it?"

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
So, here are my recent acquisitions:

This is the stagemaster I got for $125. I set it up, shimmed the neck so I could raise the floyd, chucked in a duncan distortion, and It's a damned good guitar!
The finish is ghey, but I am going to do a Lynch tiger-stripe on it, so I didn't really care. The fact that is already yellow will make it pretty easy though.
Loving 24 fret necks lately...which brings us to this:

The Brian May, which came in yesterday.
First, I gotta say that though the pic doesn't do it justice, this may be the prettiest looking guitar I own...it's really shiny, and I think the top is a red-stained mahogany veneer, which looks so deep you feel you could fall into it.
I was also suprised by the size of it. There is an optical illusion with these guitars. Your eye sees the pickups, which are single coils, and figures they are strat-sized, so you perceive the scale of the guitar based on that.
The pickups are in fact much larger than strat-style singles...so instead of being roughly les paul double cut sized, the guitar is bigger...almost 2" wider than the stagemaster up there!
So that's good.
The guitar is reall nicely built aside from that. The neck is simultaneously large and comfortable, which confuses me, because I prefer thin-wide necks usually.
The body is light because it is chambered...basically semi-hollow, but it still has an appealing weight to it, as opposed to some cheapos I have seen that feel like they could fly away at any minute.
The pickups and switching are, of course, unique. I've only had it since yesterday, but there are a lot of sounds in this thing just not covered by my other guitars.
I really like this guitar!
...and here is one I have had a while:

...for comparison to the twelve posted here.
Unsurprisingly, I now need to sell some stuff...anybody looking for anything?

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Just picked up a Roland Micro Cube over the weekend. What a crazy great/cool practice amp.
I wanted something small so that it wasn't overwhelming the house, got plenty for that, still it gets plenty loud. It gets some really impressive sounds and it can run on batteries if need be. I'm thinking this a pretty great bedroom/small apartment/dorm amp.

Sleek,
Where are you selling your stuff ebay? Gotta link ? I played the Brian May guitar a long time ago and thought it sounded better than anything I'd heard up to that point. It's a really fun guitar to play...feels great, sounds great etc. Very cool looking stuff man!

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I figure I'll probably sell the pedals via ebay and maybe list the amps on CL so I don't have to ship.
Most of my pedals are fairly ordinary "working man's" pedals. Boss, electro harmonix, MXR, that sort of thing. I'll put up a list here soonish.
I really like the last couple OD pedals I got, so I am jonesing for MORE.
I like the idea of getting one of the "JTM 45 in a can" pedals like the wampler Plexi-drive or a lovepedal COT or The 45 and one of the "AC30 in a can" pedals like the Wampler Cranked AC or the Menatone top boost in a can.
Then I'd have, like, 3 flavors of drive...
...yeah...that'd be sweet.
