Worst Metallica show ever…going travel to Vegas San Diego for Pantera 2024!

I got to see Lulu do The Man Who Sold The World with Culture Club at the Hollywood Bowl. I didn't even know she was still alive! That alone was worth the $10 I spent.

My evening kept getting disrupted by someone texting and crying about how bad Metallica was and how he made the wrong choice.

Was watching it on the secondary though, final price for 2 day ticket on VividSeats was $53. Curious to see how Sunday plays out but since tonight had Leper Messiah and Harvester Of Sorrow I don't think I would go even for free.

The show was good of course, but I don’t think their setlists have been this stagnant since the 80s? I know a guy who has that pass that gets you into every show on the tour and have no idea how he handles watching pretty much the same two shows every weekend.

Sure enough seats in front of me were open so instant upgrade 1/2 way through Pantera, who put a on great show. Not a fan of the stage, like others said felt like they were a long ways away, kinda strange vibe with band way spread out and Pantera drummer up in audience on opposite side of stadium from us. Worst front row seats ever for Metallica, band stayed on opposite side pretty much whole concert so it was like getting behind the stage seats, but with the band on the opposite side of the stadium. I took a picture of the entire band with their backs to me on the opposite side of the stadium with a giant RESTROOM sign in the back, kinda summed up the whole experience lol - Lars did have different drum sets and he changed location 3-4 times but still always far away and most of the time facing other direction

Got parking a bit further away by Jack in the Box on Century (thanks SpotHero), don't mind walking for an easy out. It was close to an hour at the other place (P1) to exit the garage, which included witnessing a full on projectile vomiting next to me, and pulling a dick move to get around this guy.

I got on the floor, way better, good times with my metal brothers and sisters!! Missed the I9K opener, in seats for the end of Punch line (not a fan, didn’t even notice Ivan was missing) on the floor for Metallica. If you go see this I recommend getting GA and positioning yourself well, so much better. Show must have gone on for a while, back home around 1:30

Took my dad (72) to his first Metallica show last night. A couple buddies couldn’t use their Sunday tickets so 3 of us got a great upgrade to 3rd row lower bowl dead center.

Apparently some Metallinerds have made it their mission to take the giant beach balls home and sell them on eBay or something.

So by the end of Whiskey In The Jar (the song where the balls drop) there were literally dozens of people in the open part of the floor lying still and face down trying to deflate the beach balls, looking like dead soldiers…and then the intro tape for One with all the flashpots kicked in.

No hallucinogens required, just a bizarre sight to behold.

By 4pm free tickets were outnumbering for sale tickets on Reddit and Facebook.

Was tempting, but was IN at Samantha Fox. Not IN Samantha Fox as I didn't splurge for the VIP M&G. She was selling autographed T shirts for $20 or 2 for $30. Not sure if it was the usual price or end of tour clearance sale.

I heard at the Metaliica show cops bought all the posters before doors opened.

I went to both nights. I thought night 2 was better than night 1. I liked the set list a little better. Not sure why they need to play more than 1 or 2 songs off 72 Seasons, but they did. I could have done without Dirty Window, but we all would like to make our own setlist.

Metallica puts on a big stadium show and it's great. No complaints.
