theatre of pain. What a turd. they went from mad max with guitars of attitude to polka dots and weak music. I listened all the way though it once and called a buddy of mine and sold him that brand new album for 4 bucks just to get it out of my house. I was so disappointed.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Got the Shadow King cd from a mall music store cut out bin for $.99 and listened it to it twice and less than a week later traded it in to a pawn shop for $1. Looks like I could have held onto it for another 30 + years and sold it for $10/15 on Ebay.

I ended up selling all my CDs eventually for dope money sadly, but one of the first to go was the second Jackyl album (Push Comes To Shove). I really liked the first one and it was popular in our school, but PCTS was dogshit. The second Fight album was a massive letdown after War Of Words as well.

Forgot I even had that album but yes that went out fast. Like a Foreigner album without good songs basically.

AKA the Viv Campbell Effect. Guy couldn't write "cat" if you spotted him the C and the A.

There's three ballads on that? What was their thought process? "Let's lead off with Monkey Business and STTG, so the metalheads know we're twice as metal as before, and scare every chick away from buying it, but then let the metalheads know we're still sensitive with a bunch of ballads"??
They wanted to have at least one mainstream single and there's three chances. They released 2 of them as singles in the USA. The subject matter of the slow songs isn't chick-friendly though. A song about heroin addiction and 2 others about religion.
"Quicksand Jesus" is a tuneless turd, and shouldn't have even made the album, never mind being a single.

Thinking about it wasn't Skid Row already seen as a pretty boy band for the chicks in 1990? More like a less embarrassing Poison or Warrant than a Mötley or Guns? Trying to be heavy as fuck wasn't on brand anyway for them so they needed ballads to sell. A Megadeth or Anthrax fan wouldn't have touched Skid Row with his boyfriend's dick.

IIRC, it was started as a Lou Gramm solo album until Vivian was brought in. He only cowrote one song on the album, the rest were by Lou and the bass player.

Sounds like Lou's band Black Sheep. https://youtu.be/dvtciyW8Wqw

Great vocals, shitty songs, shitty lyrics.

Queensryche - Hear in the Now Frontier is another one. There are worse albums but the dropoff after five (or six if you count the EP) classics in a row was brutal and it sounded nothing like Queensryche. Only listenable songs were the first and last (Sign of the Times / Sp00L) so that one went out fast. It should have been a DeGarmo solo album, and as it's not, he should take more of the blame for tanking Queensryche's career. They never recovered.

Nocturnus - Thresholds.

Kind of like the first album the second was horrible.

I saw them on the first album tour. Death metal with keyboards was a massive and shocking innovation at the time. "But keyboards are for glam bands...?!" Little did we know.

IIRC the only music I've ever returned as it was crap was a Pop Will Eat Itself EP after they almost entirely dropped the guitars. I swapped it for Slayer's Haunting The Chapel EP. I reckon I came out ahead.
