Cornell doing “Slave To The Grind”

Bach doing “Slaves & Bulldozers”

Etc.
Not really relevant to this thread, but did you every check out the RIP magazine anniversary party where Axl and Bas each do one of the other's songs?

Axl kills on Piece of Me, and I don't even really like him. Props where props are due tho.

This event was pretty epic for sure... we were all there in the balcony hanging... tons of strippers, rockers, etc...

""""""""""""""Bach is still ripping in 2025."""""""""""""

He is? Ripping what?

I understand that Bach has a lot of singing ability, power, (some) range (but nothing like he used to have), and he's still making music.

However, it's 2025 not 1989... so my question is this, for all of the Bach nut swingers.

Let's just say Bach was a near perfect frontman for the era, 1989-1992, voice, look, attitude, etc..

If Bach was a 9 or 10 then... what is he today?

Taking into consideration ALL of the essential skills, qualities, voice, image, attitude, and everything across the board...

What is his number today?

He's "ripping" a really good album. He sounds great on it, which has quite a few good, catchy tunes.

I haven't seen him live since 2014ish, so my opinion on that is only what I've seen on video. He's a passable 5-6 today.

If Phil Lewis is among the industry standard at about an 8. Bach's a 5-6. Vince is a .05, Dokken a 1. Joe Elliot is a 5-6. Sammy's a 7. And so forth. These are voice grades alone.

Bach is probably a 6.5, maybe 7 all things considered, because he still gives a sh#t about carrying the torch and pulled together the talent to put out one of the better albums of last year.

Thank you for sharing this! I’d never seen it and you’re right Axl does sound great. The first thing that came to mind was all the times they would trade lines on “My Michelle” and unlike you I love Axl yet have to admit Sebastian just buries him when they’re side by side on that one.

Cornell, by far. However, I think Bach was better up in his "screamy" mode. Cornell had some of that, but it was a little harsh. But where Cornell beats him is "everything else." Particularly, Chris was way way way way better in his lower range, and he had better phrasing. Further . . . he wrote so much better.

All that said, it's pretty remarkable how well Sebastian still sings today at an older age. Both these guys are/were monster vocalists. Among the best of a generation.

But have said that . . . I preferred Layne Staley over either of them.
