What is the closest I could get to an active sound(e.m.g./duncan), but with a passive pickup?
I'm looking for a real heavy/crunchy tone p.u. to replace the bridge p.u. in my 74 s.g. Thanks
You might try the DiMarzio D-Activator, it's designed to provide an active EMG type tone from a passive pickup. (While eliminating their sterile edginess.) http://www.dimarzio.com/site/#/pickups/

Holy shit, that's gorgeous. I had a buddy who loved really odd paint schemes on guitars and he had a bright ass pink fuckin' ibanez(very Paul Gilbertish paint job) and he said "you bust this one out live and you better be able to rip it up". He'd have loved that Strat! Is that a custom paint job or do they sell them like that? I've never seen one like that in a store.

Anyone selling an amp head? I'm really having a shitty time finding a good used one. I 've played the new Peavey JSX and just loved it. Anyone want some magic beans for their head?

I just picked up a lefty Epi G-400 SG for my niece for her Sweet 16, other than that I have been keeping it lowkey lately.

I recorded with a Rockman back in 1986; very sterile. It made Loverboy edgy.

Great Paisly Strat!

Liquid, it was a special run Fender did last year. Every so often they reissue the Paisley guitars here in the U.S. Japan gets them regularly.

Thanks for the number Toro. Unfortunately looks like I've gotta unload some stuff for a move here in just a couple of weeks - including the new strat. I've decided on 3 guitars I will absolutely not sell, and put the rest on ebay.

The mini-humbuckers retain much of the clarity from the Tele I had been playing for a couple of years, but with more bite and snarl..hehe.It's a beast!Big old baseball bat neck on this particular one but it's very comfortable to play even though my hands are kinda small. It stays in tune much better than the 'bird I had in the early 90's too.I love this guitar!

Just got two new Pickups for my '06 Gibson Explorer. I went with the Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and the '59 in the neck. Can't wait to hear these badboys. My old pups sucked...sounded like my ex GF. Shrill and whiny.

Also about to pull the trigger on a Soldano Hot Rod 50w head...I have to lie to my wife about the cost, but my dad told me to 'get used to that'....and I am, and will.

Had some extra time this week, so I built this pedal board up with 1/2 inch ply, ABS laminate, 1/2 inch aluminum C channel. All I need now are handles....

I'm fixin' to get a pedal that does an octave up and down simultaneously...I've boiled it down to either the Foxrox Octron or the EH Micro Pog...

Any opinions?

Times are tough at Casa de Toro. I've had no expendable income for me. Sucks.

My business is primarily dependent on car dealers... ugh. It's coming back though.

Anyone get anything new? I'm still waiting on two Rist guitars.

I picked one of the Electro Harmonix Micro Pogs...sounds great.

Y'gotta love a pedal that you can actually hear what it does! Subtlety be damned!

My rule for FX pedals: If I turn it on and people don't immediatley start screaming:"God, that sounds awful! Turn that shit off!" I don't want it.

Sure did El Toro. My Soldano Hot Rod 50 arrived yesterday. BTW, I'm deaf now.

I've never in my life sounded this good. Two weeks ago I got two new Pickups in my Gibson Explorer...the Seymour Duncan '59 in the neck and the SD JB in the bridge. After hearing it through the Soldano, I almost crapped my pants. I've always had shitty amps, but no more. This is the tone I've been hearing in my head for years. I'm 100% super shit-my-pants happy...finally!

Nothing new, like most money is tight. Just sold my Burny LP Custom - cool guitar, looked great sounded great, even played really well but very odd dimensions for an LP and I couldn't get comfortable with it.

I may look for a mahogany Explorer or a carved top Tele. Only thing I could really use is a simple boost pedal. I do have the jones for a new guitar but for no real reason - gotta love it.

Anyone know a good guitar store in Boston? I'm going to be there for a wedding and seeing family and I need to have some time to get away from them. I'll get divorced if I buy anything right now...but you never know.
