Gibson Melody Maker.

Might also think about raising the nut if slide is all you'll play on it.

Nah, no new toys this year. I asked for a delay pedal and even told the wife which one to get but nope...nothing. Got lots of cool other stuff, but nothing for my guitar habit. I think she's had enough guitar stuff in the house after this year. haha. Two guitars an amp, jamming in the garage...she's had it.

What delay did you request?

I didn't ask for anything crazy...just a used Boss DD-3 or DD-7. Got zipp.

Do you have anything you aren't using and want to get rid of?

Did Santa bring El Toro anything interesting?

Got nothing...

I may sell my "Big Red Machine" which is a Fetish Delay/MXR Phaser/Guyatone Flanger all in one box: $100 via paypal if you want her. Great tone!

I'm just not using her at all.

That's a pretty sweet deal, might want to go for it, LBB. What's the max delay time on that, ET? Just curious on LBB's behalf, I'm broke myself...

I'm not really sure, but it nails the EVH time perfectly, along with the flanger for that VH1 grind...

I got a Vox Tonelab ST for Christmas. It's a great little box for practicing or recording. Surprisingly good amp simulations and pretty good effects.

I may do that Toro...I've never really heard of the Big Red Machine pedal though! Been outta the loop.

So it's a delay, phase, flange? All in one? Sorry for the dumb questions!

I got a Weeping Demon wah wah pedal.

I like it a lot so far. It sounds great and has good controls for adjusting the action and contour of the sound. Of course I told the wife specifically what to get. The selling point for me is the mode where the pedal is spring loaded and turns off at the uppermost position. That opens up a lot of rhythmic possibilities that you can't quite get with a regular button-activated wah.

The only thing I worry about is the fact that it's an Ibanez product which can be chintzy so I'll have to baby it a bit and not fuck it up.

Anybody have experiences with one of these?

Had one for a short while before I got a Crybaby Classic. It's a great pedal due to it being so adjustable.

I have one-they're great. Open the bottom up and adjust the two trim pots - turn them clockwise all the way max. I don't know why Ibanez hid these trim pots-they adjust the frequencies of the sweep. After you adjust these, you will have a killer wah.

For those that don't know, the CryBaby's are somewhat adjustable too. You can change the sweep
a little bit to suit your taste.

It plays and sounds amazing. I couldn't be happier with it. May put a JB in it, but I'm liking the way it sounds right now.

does anyone or has anyone used an 'attenuator' or hot plate for their tube amps? I saw this on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ATTENUATOR-FOR-AMPE ... 255813a756

I just wonder about what it would do to my amp if it didn't work or was a piece of shit. I don't wanna fry my baby. It is lightyears cheaper than the Hotplates at Gcenter...but wanted to ask you all first.

How long do the tubes in your amp last if you use one of these things just a few hours a week? I normally use my practice amp for well, practicing and noodling and my Soldano for jamming w/friends on a weekly basis. Thanks guys!

This does not work like a hot plate. It is basically patching in a master volume in your effects loop. I tried it... hated it. Got the THD Hotplate and love it.

That thing is bullshit.

It's not an actual attenuator...all that does is limit the amount of preamp signal going to your output stage. Putting a volume pedal in the effects loop would do the same thing.

REAL attenuators go after the output stage, in the speaker output of your amp, and burn off some of the power coming out as either heat or mechanical action, sending less of the signal to the speakers.

Your amp "sees" a real attenuator as if it were a speaker cabinet. The only reason your tubes burn faster, is because you are essentially running your amp on "10" (or whatever~so you get power amp breakup and compression) full time.

Thanks guys. Great info.

How bad does it fry your tubes? How much does it shorten the life of them?

many thanks...

Does anyone on here own or has played a Floyd Rose guitar? I know there are a couple of different kinds, was wondering what your take was on them.
