The weird thing is that people still generally believed the band over Roth and Hagar. The tide started turning after the 2004 tour where Ed looked like a corpse.
Pretty sure it started when that piece of shit VHIII saw the light of day. Everyone knew it was over at that point. How they managed to release their best song ever in Me Wise Magic and their worst album ever in an eighteen month span is some fuckery only Eddie Van Halen could come up with.

You ain't kidding. That session highlights what could have been at that period of time with Roth.

When you eventually have issues with every single person in your band who doesn't share your last name, perhaps the issues are within.

That's so insulting to the VH legacy to dismiss Hagar as one of the many singers they've had through the years.

What a difference a real songwriter and producer make.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Agree. That was a major blown opportunity. In light of the raging success of the KISS reunion, management obviously put the GH and the VMA together to see how it fit. They could've sold out stadiums. Eddie fucked up. That night was about Dave, not his motherfucking hip.

The problem is that Dave and The Brothers can't opening their mouths without lying about something. If they tell four stories, three of them are going to be 99% bullshit.

Fixed it for you.
Honest question: What has Dave lied about?

Here, Here! When I heard how good Me Wise Magic was I was really excited about what VH's future had in store. Earlier that year they put out Human's Being which I thought was their best song in years that also contained Ed's best playing in years. Can't Get This Stuff No More was solid as well, but by the time I heard that Roth was already gone again. Had Me Wise Magic been on one of the original six albums it would be in their top 5 songs...in my opinion anyways. It's an excellent song!

That it took him “ten years to make it” for one.

He’s at least as cutting in his book: “We had a lot of other singers over the years,” he writes, in his only acknowledgment of the Van Hagar era.
This is disappointing. I wasn't expecting him to fully unload on Sammy the way Sammy did on them in his book, but I don't know how you write a memoir about your brother and skip over five of the platinum albums you made together. But this is a much bigger middle finger to Sam--barely acknowledging him.

Also, is he counting everyone they jammed with among those singers? Otherwise, they had two other singers over the years.

Are we even going to get the "very disrespectful to Beck" VMA's story?
A.. to be able to write a 2nd book
B.. To prevent himself opening a can of worms on how the whole Sammy/Gary thing happened.. ( & Ray)
