On the PRS subject, I should mention my main guitars are their old EG model, made in '90-'91:
As you can see it has the original small heel. Even if you don't like the regular PRS guitars, you should track one down and try it. The body even feels better against your tummy. This model was supposed to be their "Strat killer" which was cheaper than the rest of the line. Problem was, they were costing the company as much as the other bolt-ons they were building. Out of all the PRS models over the company's history, I love these with a passion. I currently own six, and am always keeping an eye out for more. My first PRS was my original EG back in '91, it's still my main player to this day. I guess that puts me in the "they made 'em better back in the day" group.
heh...Yeah, it looks kinda silly but I can get any tone out of it that I want...That monster has over 40 tubes so maintenance will be an issue but as of right now - she's tearing it up...I'm surprised there's not more MTS love here...Great amps...I wouldn't trade my setup for anything!
H.O.L.Y. C.R.A.P.
How much did the nuclear reactor and physics degree you need to run that thing set you back?!
Expensive, yes....But I bought it all used and pieced it together as I could afford it...The nuclear reactor and physics degrees were paid for by NASA as a research grant...I can launch missiles and play Paradise City with this thing!

JESUS!! I'd have a nervous breakdown trying to find the "on" button.

I do wonder how long before you'll be looking at yet another "ultimate" rig though.... it is kind of a disease, the tone quest!
Like the Fractal AxeFX Ultra.... tube snobs and modeler nuts alike are dumping their Uberschalls and Vetta IIs for it.
Let us know how you like it when you get yours!
I am so confused by all this. I used to be on the cutting edge of gear, but now it has passed me by...
Not that I care, really. I have a 3 channel Marshall and only really use two of them...when I want moo, I have fuzz. I have tap delay and tremelo. I have wah, Flange, Brian-May mid boost and POG octave stuff.
...I really can't think of anything else I need...

I'm a one channel guy, but I guess I'll branch out to two because I'm old.
I sold most of my collection, but still have 7 LPs, a Charvel Tele, a Gutierrez Strat, and a few project guitars like an Ibanez Destroyer and an Axis. I have a Krank Rev Jr., but am jonesing for an Egnator Tweaker. Handful od pedals that I f with and sell all the time...
Mattfig wrote:Here's my final MTS setup...The greatest amp ever.
First, the rack of doom!
Next the stack...Ampeg 412 with Celestion V30s on top...Randall R412NXT with Celestion Neodymiums on the bottom...Those are also Sennheiser E906 mics with cab grabbers on the bottom 412 for recording...That way I don't have to move the mics once I'm rolling.... Those combined with the mic eliminator function are awesome!
One more...
Matt. Space Bear and I just had a power outage in Orlando. Can you warn us next time you turn this fucker on?

That rig makes my head spin!

I got my MXR phase 90 modded yesterday. We did the r28, c11/c12 mod and it sounds crystal clear now. It used to be a 'dark, wet blanket' over my tone...now it's superb. I swear it took 2 min to do, and I love it.

It is amazing how much a few electrical components can color tone...WIth the MTS stuff, I've been modding modules myself and just can't believe the change in tone you can make cutting a couple capacitors or changing a resistor can do...Cool on the MXR...It's always great to make something you already dig better....
JUst picked up this Charvel, it is in mint condition, red/pink metal flake .no chips and even the allen wrenches. the guitar is over 20 years old and look new. The guiter screams hair metal
Grabbed a Rio Grande Bluesdawg P-90 for my LP Special knock off.
Sounds pretty good, about a 12k output A5 mag. Lots of mids to mess with and a fairly smooth high end. GOt to run it through the regular rig to know where it really sits. Well made pup fwiw
Had to post this....I just got an ISP Decimator G String pedal and NEVER have I heard such awesome noise reduction...I've been using a tone sucking Rocktron Hush II for years and the ISP simply destroys it...Almost no noticeable change in tone and zero noise...I think since it tracks the guitar separately in order to control the actual decimator - it is just a superior design....Kudos to ISP...!!!

Hmmm... you used a standalone Hush II? I don't have that problem with the Hush in my Intellifex Online, the unit is pretty transparent. It's not state of the art, but I love that thing and with my old Digitech IPS 33 for a harmonizer I have everything I need. Definitely thought of getting a G-Force or G-Major II but I am happy with what I have.

I've also got the ISP decimator G-String - It makes my 5150 quiet, without sacrificing any tone. I would definately recommend it for anyone using a 5150(which are notoriously noisy amps).

Do you run this in the loop or in the front of the amp?

The G-String runs in the loop AND in front of the amp. That is one of the things that I love about it, because unlike alot of people I use both channels on my 5150 and the effects loop. The effects loop on the 5150 is very noisy and the G-String really quiets it down.
