Sounds like the guitars were in storage and no one knew about the theft right away, hopefully something good will happen.

People who steal guitars probably never think of what a hit it is to the victim.

After going back and forth to replacing my Marshall rig, I finally threw a BBE 382i Sonic Maximizer in the rack.
I'm so glad I went that route! $100.00 and the sound is amazing! Like night and day!

Good call! Sonic Maximizers and Aural Exciters make a huge difference in tone. Bigger, yet tighter! Gainier, yet clear. Love them.scorpion death wrote:After going back and forth to replacing my Marshall rig, I finally threw a BBE 382i Sonic Maximizer in the rack.

I'm still loving my Warmoth scalloped neck -- I even sold the stock Strat neck.

Stock maple with a reverse neck and Schallers. I love the position of the truss rod Allan screw, although a lot of folks don't.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I don't know the relative terminology, but it is located on the high E side of the neck, in line with the 19th fret. I'll try to post a picture.
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
A truss rod is located at one end of the neck or the other, not at the 19th fret. Some are at the headstock, some are like a Phillips screw embedded in the butt end or the neck. and some stick out of the butt end of the neck with a hole for turning the truss rod. Those kind have to have a bit routed out of the body - Washburn is the only one I can think of that uses that type. A pic would definitely help because your description makes no sense.Frett_Bored wrote:I don't know the relative terminology, but it is located on the high E side of the neck, in line with the 19th fret. It's called a Gotoh Side-Adjuster.
Go here http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/necks/war ... thpro.aspx and choose Side Adjust Mechanism.
Sorry for any confusion -- I'm still learning.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Okay, that is kind of weird! So the main truss rod adjuster is at the butt end and that thing allows you to make small adjustments without taking the neck off. I assume that because you still have not posted a pic of your neck but if it had the protruding piece on the butt end I couldn't see any reason for this side adjuster so it must be the inset Phillips type screw for the main truss rod. I don't see how it could be very effective but Warmoth know more than I do about this stuff. I don't see how it could make more than a 1/4 turn though.Frett_Bored wrote:It's called a Gotoh Side-Adjuster.

It's a helluva lot better than adjustments under the 22nd fret!

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Maybe so, but I think adjustment at the headstock so you don't have to remove the frigging neck is better! I am skeptical that you can make meaningful adjustments from a 90 degree angle, that's all. Instead of having something gimpy like that I'd think making it adjustable from the headstock would make more sense.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I had to kill my eBay account again. More arbitrary reasons to hold your cash and less opportunity to neg bad buyers. I've had 3 "non-paying" bidders, yet I get no recourse.
They've held my money for the last time. I refunded buyers and said "sorry, but eBay sucks... if you still want it, call me..."
They did weird stuff once before after 1000 transactions, I got one unearned neg (extorting a discount rather than return/refund). I just can't deal with them.

The side-adjust on Warmoth Pro Necks is great. I have two, they're two of the best necks I've ever owned.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I was just looking at the back of my Epiphone Les Paul, and noticed that there was a big crack along one of the points where the wood had been laminated, and the crack has gone through the finish. I'm rather concerned that this is going to start to rot the wood inside. Any ideas of how I can do a simple fix job to seal the problem. I don't think it will affect the stability of the guitar as it is not along a stress point in the body, but as I live in a really humid area I fear the wood will start to rot if it gets too wet inside the crack.
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I'd be more concerned about the crack spreading and the wood separating than it rotting per se. I assume you are talking about a LP Special since you say laminates. Where exactly is the crack?
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
No actually, it's a Les Paul Standard. The back is laminated, with a maple cap. I bought it about 15 years ago. The crack is on the low E side, near the top of the guitar. It's not overly huge right now, about 2 inches, and I don't think it is too deep. I found some advice elsewhere that said to fill the crack with some wood glue, and that should help. It seems to have done the trick, but I'm going to keep my eyes on it for a while to make sure. SInce I live in a small city in Japan, trying to find a decent repair shop will be near impossible if it were to spread.
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Ah, I didn't think about the top! Well that isn't really structural and what you did should do the trick! Hope it holds for you. I have Yamaha RGA 211M that has a separation at the low E side first couple of frets of the fingerboard. Bought it on Ebay and it was not disclosed but i got it dirt cheap. I've never touched it and it hasn't moved in 10 years that i've had it! If it did i'd probably squirt some super glue into it and clamp it for a day!
But that's a cheapo compared to a LP Standard!
But that's a cheapo compared to a LP Standard!
Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Well, it is just an Epiphone, but I still have an attachment to it after all these years. It was the first guitar I bought with my own money when I moved to Japan, so sentimentally it has more value than money. Thanks for letting me know it should be all right.
