Grabbed a Warwick rockstand (holds 5), and a Samson wireless unit (VLX TD VR22) this week. Both affordable craigslist finds.
Don't know if anyone can help me solve an issue with the wireless, but here goes-
running a Bad Horsie through the effects loop drops the volume level, but seems to give a better response tonewise. Til now, I've run the wah between the guitar and amp. Never used the Loop before. Is there a way to resolvee the volume drop?

What amp you got?

First off, you shouldn't run a wah through the loop. They're better in front of the preamp...

Second, I have this same problem...it is because the amp manufacturers tend to think we are still in the '80's and people only use rack gear through the loop...which NOBODY I know does.

Rack stuff either runs at a different level (line level) or has compensation (input and output volume pots, for instance).

Pedals are built for guitar level inputs and such. The only way I have found is to get a clean boost as the last pedal in your loop chain and just adjust it to where the volume is the same with or without the loop.

Right now, I am using a pedalboard with a built in loop buffer boost thingy. Before that I had an MXR/Bradshaw clean boost pedal.

Strangely, not *all* amps have this problem. My Marshalls and Egnater do, but my 5150 and my transistor stuff doesn't.

Seriously though, it pisses me off, having to have another gadget just to compensate for boneheaded amp design :?

Running through a Laney LV 200.
So a better bet would be a boost in the loop, or maybe putting the wah between the wireless receiver and the amp?
Thanks for the input.

Yeah, it gets a little silly running wireless with a pedal board.

When I was working for Trace and we were wireless, I had to run a 25 foot cable from the wireless receivers out to the pedal board, then 3 25 foot cables back to the heads...thank goodness we weren't using the loops, because that would be more stuff running all the way upstage...

I assume the wireless output was low impedance.

Nah, regualr old guitar cords...probably high grade canare that I soldered myself, but still...

You know, that was back in the day before the idea was developed that every fucking atom within 100 feet of a guitar can "suck tone".

We used stock marshalls with factory tubes, too...and Boss pedals...and STILL somehow sounded better than 99% of everything now...

Pretty sure it will. The only potential issue is screw holes not matching up, but that's no big deal. Just drill some new ones... it's all gonna be under the guard anyway.

People did get rather anal about tone, didn't they? With a few notable exceptions, most of the tone snobs I know can't really actually play the guitar that well. To me if you are playing well, unless the amp is really bad or dialed in that badly, you are gonna sound good.

No pedal board here, just looking to run this wah.
I must've chatted with you at one point or another, were you onboard the American Hardcore tour? Or HV?

Wah between receiver and amp is working well.

Trace pretty much always sounded good. It really is all in the hands...well, that and just being loud enough that the guitar becomes alive.

He used to piss me off though...I'd get the rig all set up with a big Priest like sound, kinda cleaner and punchy (but not so clean as AC/DC), and the first thing he'd do is hit his yellow Boss distortion pedal, which would stay on pretty much all night.

Fucker.

Rock and Roll heaven was a good place...always a good dirty time.

He still grabs stupid pedals!!!

I like low impedance because it makes pedals work a bit better, but the whole "tone sucking" thing does get stupid.

I love Phase 90s and old MXR flangers... no true bypass there. Somehow EVH didn't care either.

Now, I love effing with dboutiquey stuff, but the best sound, for me, is a LP into my Rev combo (low imp) and occasional phase or a Treble Boost for solos.

I do like Sonic Maximzers or Aural Exciters in the loop though. I really loved them after the amp when recording, but's a luxury I no longer have.

Who cares. Do what I did and get a Micro Pog. It's 10x better...and works polyphonically without glitching.

For some reason I have a bunch of pitch shifters...if you wanna trade or something, I have an MXR Blue Box (fuzzy and glitchy, but in a cool way) and Boss Super Shifter I don't need...

I'm keeping the Micro Pog and Harmony Man!

The Micropog really is...I was looking for a good octaver for a while...had the brown box, had the blue box...

Pog does one octave down, one up and the original signal as well. Tracking is flawless and polyphonic. Well worth checking out.

The big "full" Pod is even better, but more $$$ and the micro does what I need. The big one does 2 octaves down and two up and adds detuning and Low Pass filtering to make it sound more natural.

Isn't that just for dropping the tuning of the guitar?

Does it do octave up as well and have volume knobs for each of the different registers?

I think you can do octaves and 5 semi tones as well as a 12 string setting.
