Haven't paid much attention to Randall to be honest, might have to check'em out.
Today's pawnshop crawl netted me a minty-fresh Boss PS-5 Super Shifter. Gonna fire up the modded ValveKing, plug in the Lester and see what I got for my $35 hustle(they wanted $60).
Need to quit fucking around and start checking out some Way Huge stuff.

Anyone find the Musicians Friend 'Stupid Deal o the Day' to ever be worth the gamble? Today is this wireless mic I've never heard of for $20, and I'm a bit scared of a wireless mic that only costs $20 tbh...

Anyone played or have thoughts on the Ibanez RG927 (Black, 7-string)?
I'm thinking about it being my next upgrade from Sweetwater and $599 with SW benis seems like a good deal.

Musician's Friend is blowing out Gibson Les Paul Specials for $499. So I took a flier on one, figuring if it was a POS, I'd just send it back. Turned out to be a pretty nice, no frills Les Paul. I think I'll keep it.

For $499? Definitely worth it. Solid little guitar, plays very well. It has a satin finish, which I prefer. If you want a glossy guitar, this one ain't it.vanitybinge wrote:I've been window shopping that....so you think it's worth it? Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I'm thinking about trying some programmable multi-effect thing, as I just have a fuckton of effects right now.
My problem is I am in multiple bands. I only need 4 or 5 effects for each, but putting them all on one board would be a clusterfuck.
Plus, I don't want to carry a huge board around, and I don't want to take up the space. (I have one though)
Are any of these things worth a shit?
What I need to replace: Whammy, Octafuzz, Overdrive, Microflange, Delay, Cry Baby, MicroPOG, Ring Modulator, TUNER.

The Zoom G3 sounds great, but a Whammy, CryBaby and Pog are impossible to replace.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Ima thinking about one of the Digitech boxes...they have whammy and wah functions...the RP500 looks about perfect, but there are some old/cheep ones I might try first, like the RP3. (One on CL here for $40 right now!)
I am mainly looking for song-based "set it and forget it" stuff for the cover bands I am in. Like the Rammstein one...a certain intro I need delay and chorus/flange/detune (whatevz...using a detuned chorus on a Whammy right now) I would love to just hit a patch. I don't need so much effect-by-effect control, though the RP500 does both.

Can you go into this a little bit more please?ElToro wrote:If you wanna max out the tone, install 1M vol pots, upgrade the caps and you will see!
What does upgrade the caps (capacitors I'm assuming) mean?
Does it say on existing pots what they are?
Where is best place to get replacements (allparts?)?
Thanks in advance.
Would be interested in doing this on a scale 1-10 what is difficulty?

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
Actually, go to any electronics place and ask for the best parts they have... totally worth it.
The 1M pot lets more signal through and caps make all the difference with tone pots. Look up bumblebee and orange drop caps and you will see.

Re: El Toro's Official Guitarded Thread...
I like the reverse headstock strats.
I pretty much ruled out the Digitech RP500 last night in my search for a multi effects box. A few of the functions were annoying, like how the switches are pre-assigned, so you end up wasting real estate on an on-off for a compressor, which I would never use
Also the stock setting on the whammy/expression pedal BLOWS, turning the wah on or off with the slightest touch of the toe all the way up.
This is *really* annoying, because you always do that with a wah, and when it turns off the pedal becomes a volume pedal, so when you rock it back, errything goes off. This is configurable, but why the fuck would they ship with this as the default???
Looking at the Zoom g5 now. Have heard extremely good things about it sound-quality-wise even being compared *favorably* to the Line6 stomp modellers, and I like how everything is more configurable...and the basic structure.
...like on the Digitech, the amp modelling section is a different block, whereas on the Zoom, the amp models show up simply as effects which you can put at any point in the chain, or even use several at once.
Also: on the Digitech, the EQ is a global setting that isn't attached to a switch, whereas on the Zoom it comes up as an effect box you can turn on or off.
Any of you cunts have any experience with the G5?
