I'm also looking for a decently inexpensive guitar synth if anybody's used one and can make a recommendation.
I just never used it. It's the best wah out there, but bedroom rockstars rarely play wah pedals.

I sold my Q too. They're nice but it didn't compare to my old Vox wah and mods wouldn't
have helped get it to where I wanted. I could just tell that the switch wasn't going to last
and I can't stand pc board mounted input/output jacks. It was either sell it while it still
had value or wait for it to crap out.
Right after I sold it, I came across a first issue JH-1 Hendrix wah for dirt. It sounds
amazing so I figured it was modded but it's not. Crazy. It doesn't sound anything like the
other JH-1's I've A/B'd it with. I'll change out the jacks and switch on it and be happy.

I just pick up one of these in New Orleans,

I just picked up a Royer Labs 121 ribbon microphone, mainly for electric guitar recording. It is THE SHIT. When I record my amp with it, I get the sound of my amp! Add an SM57 or Sennheiser e609 for a little additional high end sizzle, and I'm good to go. Not a minor purchase, but it's worth it!

I don't ever see them anywhere, nobody stocks them and I can't get any info.

I know they're relatively inexpensive which actually makes me a little suspicious.
No way I would buy one without playing it first.

Has anybody played one?

Image
Just picked one up today. Pretty decent sound. Never tried a Burstbucker3 pickup, but this has some good grit to it. Had to roll the tone knob back for some warm clean tones. Was playing it straight into my Laney LV200 at "apartment-friendly" volume so I couldn't get any decent feedback out of it
As far as pricing, it's close to the other "faded" Gibson's, take it for what it's worth. Definitely play any guitar before buying though.

My old lady bought me this for my birthday a while back, I didn't have the heart to tell her I'd rather have the charvel.

It's nicer than a lot of tele's I've played. The pickups are a bit hotter, and sound more tele like if you roll of the volume.

That s-1 switch is cool on strats, but kind of suck on teles, because it only works in the middle position, and changes the wiring from series, to paralell.

I really dug the Baja Teles that are out now, not a fan of the S-1 switching but with that particular Tele, it sounded great in damn near all positions.

I don't really have any way to record, so the sound quality sucks, and it hard to judge the tone, since it's the video mode of a cheap cam. And it is a solo wank, with no drums.

It's definitely not a metal guitar per say, but I gave it a shot anyways.

Thank's ET. As far as Morgan's tele, if that was stock, then the custom shop did an incredible job, I love the way they did the flames. I can't tell if the bridge plate is flat. That is one of the things I klike about the ash deluxe, is it doesn't have the lip for the ashtray.
Normally I just play a 95 strat plus, but with the EMG dg pickguard, and sperzels. And have been blacking out the hardware as I find it.

Ry cooder is good, my wife's thing is Chris Isaak, she also got me an old music man amp to go with it, but I already ditched it.

Unfortunately, I promised here I would not fuck with the tele, so I have to leave it stock. But when it comes to fender, I work across the street from Don Lace, the "Lace sensor" guy. And his electronics are not only great, but in the summertime, he puts up a little stand in his parking lot, and sells shit for dirt. If you're in Socal, it's worth scoping out.

He's on Engineer drive in Hutington Beach.

Toro, all stock except for the new pickups and brass saddles. It is KILLER. Limited run back in '06 my friend.

Quick question - any idea on how to fit standard humbuckers in a 72 thinline tele? Would a normal mounting ring work to cover the gap left from the widerange buckers?

You can buy aftermarket bridges that will be flat and cover humbucking sins.

Also, Seymour Duncan can wind full size pickups to your specs for that baby. No ring necessary!

Man, where was I in '06 that I missed those?

Prick, what MusicMan did you sell?

The thing is the 72 thinlines have the widerange buckers that are much larger than the typical humbucker. Duncan winds pickups the size of wide-range buckers? I wanted to put Duncan Phatcats in that tele.

great pics and great thread guys.... i am down to 5 guitars, 4 are with me and one is "borrowed" by a friend of mine and he has had it for a good year. My main guitar is a blue Killer Prime...I also have an ESP RS200, an Ernie Ball EVH and a clunky Hamer strat. The guitar on loan is my priceless RS-280 which is being used to its limits (I think I am ok, but my bud Kevin is a real shredder).

If I had a couple of grand to burn, I think I would get a Jackson PC1...it is simply the most perfect guitar I have every played right out of the box. Truly a work of art.

I will try to get some pics and post them....we got a foot of snow today so that will be a good backdrop.

YES! Seymour Duncan will wind Phat Cats to fit that size! I think they're about $125.

As for my guitar collection, it's on it's way back down. I'm trying to consolidate some of this craziness. Impulsiveness is a bitch. I have more than an addict should admit... publicly.
