Gracias

Just put some money down on a PRS Mira which is the best modern take on a DC LP Special I have come across.

Ebay score....1992 DOD FX68 Super Stereo Chorus, $40.

Clean, still has the box&paperwork. The Beringer EQ and self-applied Keeley-modded DS-1(ASE and Ultra mods) done put my no-pedal-ownin' ass on a slippery slope.

Gonna disable the onboard phaser on the amp, reuse as a Presence control...pondering a master Volume mod(1980 Pevaey Classic VT 212 going into a 5150II 412 slant...yeah,yeah, hybrid, but this is one that actually sounds GOOD).

Thinking of taking my Tele Custom/thinline hybrid and rolling my own La Cabronita Especial..hell of a lot nicer/cheaper than that assraper of a guitar the Fender Custom Shop offered.

One day I'll get another '72 Thinline and load it with Filtertrons. Would be tons cheaper than the La Cabronita too!

You know, as much as I rag on Gibson for their overpriced Les Pauls and a seemingly never-ending "special edition" on what amounts to a '59 Standard redux......there's really no justification on the price of that La Cabronita Especial.

No exotic woods(alder...whoopee!), a beat-to-shit treatment, and Gretsch/TV Jones pickups. That thing costs well south of a grand to build...Six grand pricetag?! HA!!!

I'm thinking a Power'Tron in the bridge, and a Phat Cat or equivalent in the neck for mine...I'll STILL have well under $800 in the whole damned thing, and it'll look and sound BETTER.

Sorry for the rant...that overblown Fender just gets under my skin.

The Cabronita was a big influence on that PRS, I agree on the cost as well, nuts.

With the guitar that project cost me $400 and I have a few spare parts to get rid of.

That's the Distortron. The Mastotron is the fuzz.

Never heard of them, but it looks cool! Looks like the new theme of mini-sized amps - so how's about some specs and history, like who's making them, wattage, etc...?

Carvin has a V3M now, well it's only 50 watts instead of 100, but it's still full-size wattage in a miniature shell. That's what I was referring to.

Went ahead and got the Egnater Tourmaster 4212. Killer amp....4 channels, 2 clean, 2 overdrive and alot of different options.
Image

But the greatest thing about this amp is the powergrid where you can switch from 100w all the way to 10w on each channel.

I'll have to YouTube that one, haven't heard it yet.

I FINALLY got around to doing the Keeley "all-seeing Eye/Ultra" mod to the old DS-1(I've dubbed it my "JCM800 pedal"). $20 from Burrows Electronics on eBay, instructions and everything necessary to complete the mods....and I DO mean EVERYTHING(diodes/capacitors/resistors/switch/LEDs....even came with wire, solder and desoldering braid, all taped to a sheet marking what values were what/amounts). Guys are getting ridiculous amounts for these pedals fully modified....and it's so damned simple/cheaper to employ a little DIY.

Still wanting an OD pedal, haven't decided what route to take there. The Wampler "Ecstasy Drive" is a KILLER, but my cheap ass refuses to pay that much....anyone have experience with the WayHuge Electronics' "Green Rhino"?

Before you even get to the WayHuge stuff - check out the Visual Sound Route 808. Just got mine for about $80 new and it rocks. Has a smooth overdrive tone and a bass boost switch to really give lower gain stages some depth. I love it. Works really well with the rest of my pedals and retains the same characteristics of the guitar going into it.

I'm selling a Garagetone Drivetrain, which is the Visual Sound clone of the original Reverend Drivetrain ovedrive. Sort of like the Xotic BB in some aspects, but I'm selling it because I love Tube Screamer-ish pedals. If you're interested, PM me.

There's a great deal on a sunburst Brian May on ebay right now...I want somebody to buy it so it stops torturing me. $435 buy-it-now!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1156

There's also an RS Brian May copy that is tempting me. It is at $500 with one bid...for those of you who don't know, RS Brian Mays are super high quality hand built ones that went for $2500 new from a builder in Arizona.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 925wt_1139

SOMEBODY buy these. I have traveling to do this summer and can't be spending money on them!

I just picked up an Ivory LTD Viper 401 that someone customised, and I cant believe how rad it is for $250! It has a GFS P90 in the neck, a Gibson
Burstbucker in the bridge, in the middle is wired out of phase and the tone control replaced with a mini toggle that is a high/low cut switch!!!
Also has a cool solid wood volume knob. Jumbo frets, grover tuners...........it plays awesome and stays in tune, killer. Try and put up some pics later.
It's a long way to the top, if you wanna rock'n'roll!
