I ordered a guitar on eBay from a seller in Japan, Thursday night at around 11:00 pm.
It was supposedly "Economy Shipping" from Japan to New Mexico.
I just checked the tracking, and it arrived here in town today at 5:30 pm.
That's frggin AMAZING speed for "Economy."
It flew FedEx, Japan to Anchorage, to Memphis, to Albuquerque in less than three days.

It will now be given to a FedEX Ground crew. I hope it's delivered tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes the local ground people as long or longer to get it to me as the trip from Japan took.

It's not anything fancy, just a dirt cheap ($240 w/free shipping) Vox Phantom 3/4 scale mini. It uses heavy gauge strings and regular tuning.

It got here yesterday afternoon. Three and a half days from Japan to Albuquerque. YOWZER!!!! That's some fine "FREE ECONOMY SHIPPING."

I just saw something on TV while channel surfing.
A country artist was singing while playing an acoustic with a capo. He had a tight band. Near the end of his song, it modulated up a half step. While the band played the first note of the modulation, the guy moved his capo up a fret, then fell back into playing.
I don't recall ever seeing anyone do that before.

Been playing/buying/selling guitars for almost 35 years.......only experienced this a couple times....
Changing guitar strings, and whoever strung it last put a little knot/twist on end of each string. As I'm struggling to get the knots out while pricking my fingers, I could literally track down the guitar tech nerd who strung it, and jam the low E string up his dick hole.

George Jones always did this on “He Stopped Loving Her Today.”

Ditto Waylon on “Mamas Don’t let Your Babies . . .” If I recall correctly.

I got a new complaint... Been playing through my new Blackstar amp and digging it but I decided to go over some stuff that sounds particularly good through my other amp. So I switched all my effects and EQ back over to the other one while adjusting all the settings back per cell phone pictures I took before so I wouldn't forget how it was set, and guess what? It sounds like shit. Now I have to go through the whole fucking knob twiddling bullshit process like trying to hack a password or pick the lock on a safe. I had it in the sweetest of sweet spots before and so far I've had no luck getting it back.

Fuck that, get two.

I’ve been on a kick since picking up the cheapo Loar on the left. The slightly less cheapo Eastman on the right I can’t put down.

Changed the strings on a uke to GDAE so I can take fiddle tunes to the beach. Will transpose Slaughter when time permits.

Been looking for one of these for a long time. Found this one on local Facebook Marketplace, of all places.

In remarkably good shape, considering that it's a 40-year old guitar.

exitflagger wrote: Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:23 am Interesting development. Anybody notice that Gibson/Epiphone is inching ever closer to making the shape of their newer headstocks just like the patented Gibson shape? The open book top is there but they've now removed the chamfers at the corners. They long ago changed the more exaggerated hourglass shape too. Not much difference now. Getting closer to that brief pre-merger period where Epi was making full-on lawsuit guitars with the copied headstock shape and bell-shaped truss rod cover, which are the two most proprietary aspects.

Image

I fiddled with one of the newer Epi Les Pauls and they seem to be going downhill in overall quality. Gibson is so fucked up.
Okay, so three years later here we are. I knew they were working toward this. Newer line of Epiphone LPs and SGs (and probably others I guess) have gone 100% "lawsuit" style:

Image

Ready for the punchline? The older headstock models (shown from the earlier post) are $550 retail and these with the ever-so slightly altered headstock shape are... $1300! More than double the price and I can't see that there's much difference other than the subtle aesthetic change.

Who's gonna bite the hook?

What a scam...

Yeah, but those came with Kahlers. I'm trying to get him a wangbar, not an imaginary fantasyland guitar that doesnt exist.

It's already got a strat trem route. It'd be way easier to put a floyd on there than a kahler.

I guess I am a limp wristed pansy. Lol.
I have a 1986 (I believe) Charvel model 2. It came with a kahler, it stays with a kahler. :D
