The Dead Daisies - Slide It In

Post by MOON »

In true Daisies’ fashion and with three members of the Whitesnake family in the band, The Dead Daisies are going to play “Slide It In” in their set as a “tip of the hat” to the legendary David Coverdale & Whitesnake.

"During rehearsals in New York, Brian, Michael and I were jamming on 'Slide It In', it had an immediate cool vibe. It brought back memories of the time we had together in Whitesnake. It's just a kickass tune! Can't wait to play it live!" - Doug Aldrich

Let me translate that: "We got sick and tired of going on stage and not getting a response from the crowd from any of our own original material, so we decided to add a song to the set that people had actually heard of."

Yeah, that was definitely not an improvement.

I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

The rich guy always looks hilariously out of place, as expected.

These guys should just play covers.

Which one is the rich one? And how has he not gone broke trying to make this band happen?

Rich as in billionaire level rich. His family own the biggest shopping center chain in Australasia. More than enough cash to pay actual rockstars to hang out with him and finance paying to play at festivals etc.

They should get on a festival slot where Motley is playing and play the entire Motley 94 album.

For some reason, I don't mind the mediocrity of the Daisies. I like Crabby's voice and Aldrich. For very generic bluesy rock, it's fine background noise in the gym or my office. Remaking this WS standard is weird though.

Lol were any of these idiots even involved in writing the original tune?
This screams desperation.
They cash the check and it’s not like they have much left of a career anyway, but surely if you look passed the financial side they are mocked at (maybe not in public) by their peers.
This band needs Blotzer!

Their peers wish they had the gig, brother.

They're all working players, but these guys get to sleep in nice hotels and are paid a fat salary.

As far as original music, they're getting paid a salary to write tunes and record in nice studios at someone else's expense.... they just gotta let the rich guy play power chords in the background.

Is he even in the mix? He’s a virtuoso at writing cheques.

No. He left last year to do his own solo tour and other stuff. That's when they asked Corabi to return

This. If Doug wanted to move on, there would be 100 players lined up wanting the gig.

Uh...no. Slide it In is credited to just Coverdale, and it was written in 1983, so when Doug was 19 and Lion had just formed, Michael was 8, and Brian was 15 and hadn't gone to Berklee yet.
