PBR ... Anyone? Who has ever been to a Professional Bull Rodeo event?

The one that started it all. Spreading gossip and insults since 1998.

PBR ... Anyone? Who has ever been to a Professional Bull Rodeo event?

Post by MetalSludgeCEO »

I went to the Team event at The Pond in Anaheim last night... my 2nd time going.

My cousin is actually one of the coaches, A&R of rider development for the Nashville Stampede, who actually won the Championship last year.

I have to say, last year when I went, I was very shocked... it was MUCH cooler than I expected it to be... by a mile.

Very much a rock, concert kind of vibe, with pyro, and most of the music they crank is AC/DC, Metallica, Motley Crue, Pantera, etc...

And the Team Series, is new... just started last year... in short, there are teams, and they compete against each other, not any man for himself on a bull like a standard rodeo.

Also... a ton of hot chicks there too... again, more than expected.

Fun Fact: They call the groupies at the rodeos, Buckle Bunnies.

A pretty F#@king dumb name I must admit... ha!

Event was a Free, cuz I know people!

Parking $25.00

2 waters, licorice, M&Ms and some Sour Patch Kids, $47.00

During the TV or Web broadcast, the background music is ALL cut out... but at the event... it's cranking almost non-stop!

Yes. Went to an event in Estero, FL (Ft Myers/Naples) back in 04-05 maybe. My cousin's BF at the time was friends with a few of the riders. Think it was actually his brother in law who made the introductions. Anyway, him and the BiL would take the riders hog hunting every time they came around as that was their hobby. Met a few of them at a country bar after the show and they were all very cool.

As far as the event, they're awesome. The bulls are monsters in person. With the hookup from knowing the guys we were first and second row. Had a great time and would go again if they come here to Greenville.

Stumbled across one of their shows at the State Fair once. Agree, it was much more of a party than I had expected. Same experience with the music, and the host was pretty entertaining. Was a lot more energy in there than I had expected.

Uudefendable animal abuse. May a good number of riders & spectators end up under the hoofs.

I’ve never been to a rodeo, but I’ve been to the Pro Rodeo Hall Of Fame in Colorado Springs. If you’re ever there, go. Lots of exhibits.

You're allowed to root for the bulls if you want. They win more often than not.

Of course there has to be 1 of these in every group...

I am sure you don't approve of any Circus, or Pony Rides for kids at the local Fair either, right?

Haven't been... but... my cousin, who I referenced above and is a coach/A&R for the Nashville Stampede, has been involved in that HoF.

He's also published a few books on the Rodeo, Black Cowboys and is somewhat of an 'expert' in the field.

He used to live in Colo. Sprgs and was involved to some extent, bringing in artifacts, etc..

I live in Calgary ..so every year we get the Stampede. Just a full week of drinking, rodeo and partying. If you have not been here for Stampede week yet... put it on your list .

You still have beat up old ponies walking the same circle for 12 hours over there in the States?

That included a $5 tip... yes, I tipped... it was actually $42.00. It was a nice old lady working the register, so I locked in a fiver!

Took a nephew to one many, many years ago. Seemed like blatant animal abuse to me. Haven't been back. Can't see me taking my own kids to it.

I check it jut every June when it comes through ND. It’s one of the best “bang for your buck” entertainment events out there. Does big numbers, always a sellout.

Here in Houston it's a damn near rite of passage to go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo... It can be a lot of fun to go and the people watching is top notch. the Urban Cowboy trend never went out of style here,..

Having a band playing afterward or as a half time thing is pretty common in Texas.
A few country bands I worked for did it. There's also some big touring rodeos sponsored by Budweiser that feature national acts.

I reckon all songs are folk songs. I ain't never heard no horses singing any.

Speaking of rodeos, here's a guy from the wide, wide open wind blown plains, who paid his dues by playing with himself on a picnic blanket next to the chuck wagon.
He's well known for not wearing a cowboy hat. So was his dad.
