Damn! I knew he'd had a health issue or two lately, but I wasn't expecting him to go already. RIP, Jimmy...

Wow. I wasn't a Parrothead, never saw a concert, and hated how uncool Margaritaville had become. But, growing up in Florida in the 70s, all the shit he wrote about took me back to that carefree childhood, so I dug the tunes for the minds-eye it gave me.

Cheeseburger In Paradise had great food. Loved the sliders. Margaritaville, I ate at the one at Navy Pier in Chicago when it first opened. Burger was extremely undercooked, couldn't get the damn waitresses attention to send it back because of how busy they were. Spent the Magnificent Mile walk back to the hotel hoping I wouldn't shit my pants, or later that night at the White Sox stadium.

Re: Jimmy Buffett
RIP, I am among those who casually tolerated him and even went to see him at the old Irvine Meadows with some friends who are diehards (wearing a $200 Hawaiian shirt and a Rolex naturally )
I absolutely love the Margaritaville living concept though. I would NEVER EVER move to Florida, but to live with like minded people is a great idea.
Inspired by this I came up with 'Paradise City', which will be up in the mountains somewhere. Haven't decided which state but AZ, CO, CA or MT come to mind. If you are an old fucker who likes the outdoors and loves to RAWK it's for you!!
I just have to get Axl to sign off on it now (he can have 95% of the goodies, I can easily get by on 5%)

Sad day. His run of albums from early 70s to early 80s is pretty awesome. Dozens and dozens of great songs. And what a fun concert
