Taken for what it is--a decent enough hair metal ballad--it's good, even if it's not exactly up to classic Kiss standards. In that sense, yeah, I guess it made me somewhat happy.

In all seriousness, I was ecstatic. I was a huge KISS nutswinger. I was following that song's path on the charts. It was #10. Then #9. Then I think #8 for two weeks.

I remember thinking, if Alice Cooper's "Poison" went top-10, then this is just as big, right? Ultimately, I don't think it was. To be honest, I don't think "Forever" is as big as "Crazy Crazy Nights," which peaked at 60-something.

Forever got to 8 in the US but did jack shit everywhere else. Crazy Nights was 4 in the UK for some reason.

Last time they played it was a couple days after Symphony with Tommy and Peter in Japan. Electric guitars no acoustics.

If you wanna get technical, the video for "God Gave Rock N' Roll to You II" was Eric Carr's last video appearance. And "Rise to It" was the third single after "Forever", I think?

The below book mentions the Hot in the Shade tour was a disappointment despite Forever being a hit single.

Didn’t help when Paul’s shrink came in as manager and stole $100,000 tour profits and went into hiding.

Forever is the only reason they could do a tour, after the Crazy Shytes tour was half empty no promoter wanted to risk it. That’s why the album came out and there wasn’t a tour for months and months, it took Forever being a surprise hit for the tour to get a deal. Album came out October 89 tour didn’t start until May 90. By which point the album was dead in the water but the support acts and buzz about them playing mostly old shit helped move tickets pretty good.
