I returned from my trip to the US safe and sound

Post by Ale »

What everybody was wondering!

I was (by myself, first time ever I travel alone on "vacation") in Raleigh working (extremely cheap city, but boring)
then I went to Virginia Beach (shitty weather, ok city, good record stores)
then I went to a beach in Delaware, Rehooot Beach (great bars with lots of beautiful young blue eye girls -didn't know that this part of the US was so country music, all those girls love "new" country, I tried my best but didn't score. Good: I bought an iphone, no taxes. Stupid: I passed on an acoustic ibanez guitar veeery cheap)
then I went to Atlantic City to my buddy's hotel for two days (lost at the Casino, but not a lot, the beach is awful there)
then I stayed for 3 days in NYC in a Pod hotel ("only" 158 dollars a night, what a fucking expensive city it is, and one night I spent it with a Russian girl, don't tell my girlfriend)

I saw Train live (love it! they were flawless, great great music and musicians and fun show, I'm a fan again)
Ann Wilson (boring, she played 5 songs, went on a 40 minut break and then played 10 more, rock is dead I guess)
Alice Copper/Rob Zombie (shitty seats but I guess I can say I saw Alice, good show. Was surprised by Rob Zombie, I didn't know a song but he has a great stage show)
and Bruce Springsteen in MetLife (emotional, homecoming show for those old musicians, I loved it)

People in the US seem older than they are. Nobody believed me I'm 41, they say I look 28. It's not that, you just look like shit.

What? You visited the United States and didn't get shot, end up in a race riot, or get billed for $10k when getting a cough checked out?

How were you dressed for the country crowd? You don't have to wear Ariats, jeans, and a Stetson hat, but you don't want to look like a dork from overseas either. Either way, the country crowd and country shows are so much more fun with more beautiful women than any washed-up rock bands have in 2023. Even Mattley is listening to Morgan Wallen to diversify his music portfolio (and sell more Mazdas).

I travelled by car from Raleigh to NYC and didn't see a single cop in the way. You do have more and more homeless crazy people (the best one: a total jacked up body builder in underwear running around a square screaming every each 30 exact secons "HELP!!") but maybe because I'm from Argentina where when shits goes down it is REALLY shitty with dangerous people, I didn't feel threatened in the US.

This is truly a great story. There's a long version but I would bore you with the details, or maybe you wouldn't believe me.
The short story is that I took the NJ transit whatever bus from Penn Station to the Metlife Stadium to se Bruuuuuce, and I (we) were runing late for the concert, so I struck a conversation with this very nice blonde Russian girl living in NYC (in fact, she just has been made resident) and she offered to pay the Uber from where the bus left us. She was with a very big kinda Zangief from Street Figher video game guy who didn't speak a word of English.

I think I made the right move when (just making conversation) I told her that my mother was born in Ukraine. She became totally apologetic and sad and kept telling me how every russian civilian hate Putin and how sorry she was (my mother came to Argentina when she was 2 years old, go figure).

We arrived (late) to the concert, we said our goodbyes as Springsteen was starting his first song (she -they- had a ticket, I went to the box office to score a nice one for just $128 dollars, how I love dynamic pricing) and she gave me her instagram to "keep in touch".
Part 2 is about the next night, in which I invited her (it was my last night in NYC) to see the US open (on tv, in a bar) cause she told me she loved Tennis.

I was working in Raleigh and maybe a little far from Dowtown (just went one evening but it was a tuesday and it didn't seem -except for a chocolate factory- to have fun places. My bad I guess. It was only 3 days there.
Maybe I was a little too comfortable in the Mexican restaurant in front of my hotel, in which you could eat A LOT for under 15 dollars and the beer was only 2 dollars the big "glass" or whatever you wanna call it. NYC the same size of a beer was 9 dollars in a bar!

I heard and like some new country music and I know it is the "hair metal" from the 80s (learned that here of course). I'm from Argentina so that type of music is not played at all here. But I like Miranda Lambert (her double album "The Weight" is almost a masterpiece for me) and Eric Church.
I dressed simple that night, it was after going to the beach and it was hot, so a plain t shirt and jeans and converse snickers. Was that the turn off?
(Honestly the bar I went was FULL of beatiful girls, but they were very young all of them 23, 24 at most so it was difficult for an old 41 years old man, tho they all say I looked 28. Had a great time there I chatted a lot and got a little drunk. It was just my dick that didn't get sucked.

If you go to my instagram, the last 4 or 4 added friends are those yankee girls.

Or is it so that they look their age and it's people from Western Europe and a few more countries who look younger? Because I have the same feeling in eastern EU, Balkans and even more so ex-USSR. Those countries seem to be full of teenagers and old people... except thst the old people start at below 30. Early marriage / divorce seems to age people.

Part 1 of an unfinished 2-parter is the "short" version?

I'm guessing she got so wet from watching Novak Djokovic kick ass that she dragged you back to your hotel room and gave you some Russian cherry pie!

Very good point! Good genes and climate must add to that. Canadian women, Scandinavian women, Ukraine, UK, you name it... They are all beautiful. I'll admit my judgement has been jaded because I only know of these women from the pages of Playboy magazine!

But still..it's a valid point. I think USA ages you more especially if you are in the working class. I'm in NYC personally and just seeing the menu prices alone at some places has caused a few grey hairs!
