I agree. It reminds me of something off "The Spade." Maybe it's his vocals now or the production. Neither of the two Marvelous 3 songs have sounded much like the Marvelous 3 but it's a step in the right direction.

Butch posted more of the song at the following link. Still not the whole thing though.

Seems kinda silly he’s trying his best to cut Jesse Harte out of those old Southgang clips.

Came here to post this but knew you guys would be too quick. Love the old Southgang clips, sucks that Harte was pushed out of them.

Butch posted this along with it on FB:

"The 2nd single is called “My Old School Metal Heart” and it is also the opening track on the new album! It’s super duper fun y’all.
ALSO.
Just to dispel any rumors that the 3 of us were ever in a… ahem…. “hair metal“ band when we were young lads.. any likeness in this new visualizer video teaser for the new single is strictly coincidental and cannot be confirmed (or denied)😎"

hopefully we'll get to see laglamrocker holding a setlist pointing to "C.C. ROAD" at some point during the tour.

As I said before, it sounds like an outtake from The Spade or Stay Gold. These are basically Butch songs with Jayce and Slug on them. Butch's "Left Of Self-Centered" was more Marvelous 3 than anything I've heard so far. But they're fine songs, especially after his last few albums.

I really like this one, it feels like something off the The Spade. Again, it doesn't sound like M3 to me but it's pretty damn catchy.

Looks like a bunch of SouthGang footage, that has edited out Jesse Harte the entire way.

Interesting...

Solid song... Butch is a master in music... period.

It is 2023.

The new Marvies tunes aren't going to sound like their stuff from the 90's.

This song rocks.

Year has nothing to do with it, old boy. 80 year old Rolling Stones just put out a song that sounds like The Rolling Stones. Metallica is around 60 years old and they still sound like Metallica. Same with Foo Fighters who are in their 50s. Fuck, Blink-182 (a 90s band) just put out some new songs and they sound like Blink-182. Some bands can keep their sound and what made them special and others can't. It is what it is as the hipster humans say.

Jesse is seen at least a handful of times. Which I think is fair. Considering how he is not a member of Marvelous 3.

You did you try to type AC/DC and somehow your phone auto-corrected to Metallica? That's the only way you could've written that.

Love that song and band since I first saw them on MTV. Pretty straightforward cover, but it’s pretty much already a perfect song. I’m surprised Butch never did that earlier, given the ATL connection.

I have the entire album now and as it's been said, it's a Butch Walker solo record with Jayce and Slug on it. It's no different than the rock songs on "The Spade" or "Stay Gold" but he just put them all on one record.

The song Jackie And Tina made me laugh out loud when he got to the cancer part (spoiler) because it just seemed like it was trying so hard to make you feel something. Like WTF? It didn't feel genuine at all. The idea for this song is fine but the lyrics are just dumb and uncreative. Sorry.

Hip-hop thumpin’ at a broke red light
Bad wind howlin’ on a Saturday night
Nothing much doing in a tornado town
Except for when their favorite singers come around

One got the makeup
The other got the blow
Both got the words down to
Every song he know
Bring home the lucky boy
Throw him in the road

Jackie and Tina are going to a show
Jackie and Tina are going to a show

Daddy lost the condo, smelling that salt
Still blames Obama, but it's all his fault
Jackie put the rat killer in his lemonade
Time to move on, gotta let the bruises fade

Pick me up at a bar where we used to go
Jonny still passed out, nobody gotta know
I wanna feel something, instead feelin old

Jackie and Tina are going to a show
Jackie and Tina are going to a show

Jackie got the call, ya never wanna take it
Cancer came back, Tina didn't make it
35 years and it all goes black
That feelin for a friend, never comes back

Jackie gonna squeeze in her rock ‘n’ roll clothes
Urn full of ashes in the center console
Jackie was the rock, Tina was the roll

Both of them honeys are going to a show
Jackie and Tina are going to a show

_______________

He rhymed "it" with "it." Also, apparently Jackie is a murderer because she killed her dad with rat poison. It's a totally overwritten song that's fun to goof on.

There are plenty of older bands that can still make you feel young, and this record makes me feel old. It's "mature" rock from the Marvelous 3. There's no fun riffs or crazy solos you need to hear. It's not loud arena rock. The most Marvelous 3 song on the record is "She Sheila" and that's a cover.

Overall, it's fine for a Butch record. It's certainly better than "Glenn." But if I'm gonna grab a Marvelous 3 record to listen to, this won't be it.

It's a catchy fun record but gets a little samey half way though. He stays in the same melodic vocal range throughout the album which adds to the ear fatigue. I feel the lyrics are uninspired on most of the songs, lots of really phoned in, cliche rhymes, and he really just went with the same nostalgia theme for every song.
First two songs have the word heart in the title, like bro, you are a better writer than that, super lazy.

One of the biggest M3 nutswingers here, but on first listen, I’m extremely disappointed.
If you want that fun power pop with heavy guitars, big hooks, sing along melodies, you’re not going to find it here.
This album is just a slightly more rocking version of the stuff Butch has been putting out for the last 20 years.

Butch was probably going to release this as his next solo record, and thought why not just throw the M3 name on it and see where it goes.

Song is OK I guess. The video starts to repeat clips - they didn't have more than 3 minutes of footage to use? I find it hard to believe they did it on purpose.

The She Sheila cover is pretty good.

IMO - The song “Kill a MOFO who breaks your heart” is fantastic!!!

There's no point in even giving my opinion of M3 IV.
It seems like Butch Bashing is now a sport on this board.
He just can't do anything right for you people anymore.
And it's comical.
