Anyone here attend?

Super curious as the guitars at the sound check sounded a bit "different".

Set list, truly epic.

Anyone have insight?

No thank you.
If I'm seeing this right, you have a small standing section, seats and than a huge standing in the back?
So weird to see that many seats at US concerts.

Power Trip is AEG/Goldenvoice, not Wimmer.

There is definitely a caste system / haves versus have-nots. If I paid $700 for a GA ticket to sit a mile away and watch on a monitor, I’d have been pissed.

The “pit” (open floor in front of the stage) is the prime place to watch. There are floor seats behind but the view sucks if you’re too far to the left or right. The people in the GA area behind the seats are basically watching a closed-circuit concert / video footage of a live radio broadcast.

Food is overpriced, traffic sucks, blah blah blah. I’d still rather be here than not.

Maiden was great if you’re a Maiden fan, but I agree with the sentiment that bands should dumb down their sets for festivals.

There’s a great 2-hour GNR show buried somewhere in the self-indulgent, marathon set they continue to insist on playing.

Priest was Priest, but I think they didn’t take full advantage of the chance to convert the weekend warrior casuals.

AC/DC had 52 Marshall cabinets on stage. Suck it, Yngwie. Set list looks great on paper (although 100% agreed re: "Rock and Roll Train"), and it was great to see Brian back on stage, but they are OLD. Every song was its own little island, and there were no transitions from one to the next, so they'd finish Song A, walk over to the drum riser and hunch over the set list for 15 awkward seconds, then start Song B. No flow at all. Still, it's AC-fucking-DC, and it was a blast. Personal favorites were "Dirty Deeds" and "Let There Be Rock," and even though I was probably the only one who felt that way, the riff of "Demon Fire" was a treat to hear live.

Every single cunt there is watching the concert through an iPhone. You've no choice but to watch the concert through someone else's phone.

Honestly, Brian for one-offs, Axl for tours. Angus has barely aged and should be out there doing his thing. It’s cool that Brian got to do a comeback gig but what he and Steven Tyler do vocally isn’t meant to be done when you’re over 75. If Steven just made it three shows into a tour, I seriously doubt Brian would make it much further than that.

Im only a few seconds in, but there are tons of empty seats, and if this cameraman is gonna sing along to the whole show, i'm gonna report him to youtube for inappropriate content.

From what I understand, the band doesn't play to a click track so they huddle together at the drum riser to get started for every song.

Not sure how much of the clusterfuck is the organization (and Goldenvoice are total pros at this) or 60,000 people descending on the site who had never been to Coachella.

I was in GA watching the screens and having fun. For AC/DC I was parked in front of a video screen and relay tower. Not bad $155 / 3nights, probably what Metallica movie would cost if it was no threepeat.

AC/DC was just so good. Not like better than even 2000 but just the fact that it's 2023 and I got to see some decent version of AC/DC.

Cause the high hat isnt mic'd up and they cant hear the drummer count to 4 audially?

That's what it's called. You put up what are called "delay speakers" which are timed delayed by measuring the distance to the source, based on the speed of sound. It's no biggie to any reputable audio company.

I bet in that crowd of 60,000, there were like, 4 people who were happy to hear Stiff Upper lip and Rock and Roll Train.

...I mean, 4 total. Between the two.
I was hoping for Who Made Who and Heetseaker

How much does everyone think the bands were paid for this? I'd guess $2-4 million per band, but that could be way off.

However, I have seen Led Zeppelin, and I have seen Queen with Freddie, so I guess I get points for that?

For what it is in 2023, Brian exceeded my expectations at 76 in that heat. Angus needed more crunch. Sounded way too tinny at the start, at least through phone footage. I'd imagine they'll cut at least a few of the songs for the tour. Crowd seemed DOA.

Halford seems distracted. I'm sure the minute the show ended, he took an Uber to downtown Palm Springs and spent the rest of the night playing choo-choo train with all the other bears.

I really wish AC/DC would bring back Flick of the Switch or Big Gun if this is going to be it for them, but I can't complain too much with as many hits as they have.

Would also like to hear Jailbreak, Walk all over You, and Touch too Much, but don't want to be greedy when it comes to Bon Scott material.

Also, as far as the breaks between songs, they were doing that back in 2015 as well, I specifically remember them doing that at Wrigley and thinking they were catching their breath because they were a bunch of old smokers, it didn't even occur to me that they were doing it to sync up.

Awesome for 76.

I would’ve done a shorter set because of age and time off.
