They’re not trying to copy anything, they have to put Glenn’s name on there so people will buy it. I doubt he played shit on it.
You'll be able to tell his solos from the other guys by the vibrato..

Sweden Rock Festival just announced Judas Priest as one of their 2024 headliners. Alice Cooper, Bruce Dickinson and Avantasia will also play there next year.

Painkiller is their Creatures of the Night. A super heavy folllow-up to a flop that became a bit of a fan favorite and the band keeps pushing it... but it just didn't sell and still doesn't.

It's more like their Revenge. At least Creatures was a great album, Revenge was not. And nor is Painkiller.

The difference is that Bruce Kulick seems to be the only Kiss member who cares about Revenge and they barely played anything off it live after the Revenge tour. Creatures, they kept talking about how great it is, 3-4 songs from it remained in the set for years and now it got the same deluxe treatment as their biggest studio album Destroyer.

Painkiller is average. The songs and attitude always remind me of a Spinal Tap band. Trying too hard to be cool

The song ‘painkiller’ is great, and a great opening track - like electric eye & freewheel burning.

But it wasn’t followed up by good songs.

I like painkiller, touch of evil & between the hammer & the anvil.

The rest I never listened to much

Nailed it. Also see the back cover of KISS Revenge with Spruce wearing rings on top of gloves and Paul wearing a trench coat crouching awkwardly to balance up Eric being so short. Trying too hard!

Never got the love for the song Painkiller, the drum intro is cool - Scott's greatest moment in Priest - but after that it's very average and not even close to those you mention or Exciter or even Rapid Fire.
I also get the vibe that it and Touch of Evil were purpose written to be singles as most of the album kind of lacks personality, it isn't obvious filler but nothing really stands out.

JP from Turbo onwards have been more Spinal Tap than Spinal Tap themselves, except unlike Tufnel & St. Hubbins, they don't seem to be in on the joke.
