But I voted for L.A. Guns. They were pretty much as good as GNR.

Tesla are easily the best of those bands, but nothing at all like G’n R.

Make a top 10 of the songs of both, and you'll see it won't feature a single LAGuns track. Not even on the reserve bench.

Make a top 50 of the songs of both and it'll have maybe 35 from LAG and rest from Appetite and Lies + maybe couple from Illusions.

I never saw Tesla as a GnR clone. In fact, I think a lot of bands got saddled with that unfairly. I remember seeing a review for Sweet FA's Stick to Your Guns that said "stick to your Guns and Roses". I found that to be a lazy comparison.

A lot of bands adopted pieces of the GnR vibe. Salty Dog comes to mind.

To me the best GnR clone was Love/Hate. Came closest to matching the sleaze factor.
It's hard for me to get used to these changing times. I can remember when the air was clean and sex was dirty.

GnR would have been a 2nd rate Wildside had Under the Influence come out in ‘86!

IMO, Wildside sounds more like RATT than GNR, and the "Under The Influence" album is mostly forgettable filler..........

if anything Guns N’ Roses copied Tesla after ‘appetite’ with the southern rock angle

Good point. The more laid-back Stonesy stuff on the Illusions definitely has the same feel as The Great Radio Controversy.

The whole story around that album getting made was way more interesting than the music. In one ear out the arse.

Ok. So instead of being influenced by The Stones, who Gn’r loved (and also famously opened for) the Stonesy stuff came from…Tesla?

The current band is 2nd rate, new songs are some of the worst piles of shit I’ve ever heard. Hope the new album doesn’t happen.

Mother Love Bone had something at least on GnR’s level of credibility.

This ^...... current GN'R is a soulless money grab on the level of Lip Sync KISS. I'd rather see the real GNR band (Slash, Duff, Izzy, Adler or Sorum and Clarke) with a scab singer, you would at least get a show with some "edge".
