What's your take on Feels So Good?
The Van Halen song I mean.
OU812 has quite a few songs I don't care about but I love this one. Ed seemed more interested in keys than guitar playing at this point, but I've always been a sucker for synth heavy rock.

As a pop song 10/10. As a Van Halen song 2/10.

Way to stir up some more Sammy hate on this board. Can't wait.
When it came out, I thought "Feels So Good" was boring and generic. Over time, I grew to love it. Really well-produced song. The drums, keyboards, vocals, everything. It helps that it's not overexposed. You have to go out of your way to hear it.
I also appreciate how the keys have that click/thud sound, like you're standing next to the person playing them in the room. I'm not sure if that would be considered a gate effect or not. Maybe a studio geek can explain it better.

Embarrassing, and that music video where they’re all dressed like the three guys from Full House … fucking hell man. I bet Ed was going into his trailer in between takes so Val could breastfeed him.

I like Chuck Mangione's Feels So Good better.

Good keyboards, but not much else to it. I'll enjoy listening to it on occasion.

Re: What's your take on Feels So Good?
The quintessential Van Hagar song. I love it.
Re: What's your take on Feels So Good?
Eddie`s synth and Al`s drumming sound fine on the track.
But jesus mf christ hagar ´s lyrics suck "Hey this is a feelgood song, what might be an appropriate lyric for chorus, let me think..."

Agreed. It's just safe happy unoffensive music. Nothing wrong with the Hagar years. It's all safe pop/rock. Some heavy guitar here and there but the hits were mostly pop/rock songs like this one.Ozzy Stradlin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 5:10 pmHahahahahaha.
I see what you did, there, and I concur.

I like this song much more than When It's Love, which is much cheesier and pretentious in my opinionSchenkerFan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 9:22 am The Van Halen song I mean.
OU812 has quite a few songs I don't care about but I love this one. Ed seemed more interested in keys than guitar playing at this point, but I've always been a sucker for synth heavy rock.
FSG may sound adult contemporary and I shave my balls before listening to it but I think it's a good song.

Re: What's your take on Feels So Good?
Hagar era sucks except for like a dozen songs. You could make one great album out of four. And even then it wouldn’t be as good as vh1, 1984, vh2 or Fair Warning.

Re: What's your take on Feels So Good?
To be fair, the Roth era was all about guitars, swagger, and party attitude - which made it great - but the songs themselves without that were not much better than the Hagar era, if any. About 10-12 great songs and a bunch of mediocre songs or filler. Other than the die hards who are now pushing 60, no one wants more than a single album of Roth Era hits either
