Maybe THE greatest horror film of all time.
Well-written and acted, perfect production for a basically zero budget, Amazing score and great atmosphere. Not many horror films since have gotten it close.
And one of the best parts is that you simply don't know why, or what set Michael off. They started explaining it in parts 4-5, but that softened it up. The scariest part about him was that you just didn't know why he was the way he was, but you could tell he was no "ordinary" lunatic.
Then Rob Zombie fucked it all up with his terrible remakes. Garbage.
The original Halloween is not only the best in the whole franchise, but arguably the best in the whole genre.
