Did somebody have a Bobby Brown playlist? That's random for Mattley Mazda to be playing. Good one though!MattleyCrue wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 8:00 pm Did you like this style of music at the time?

My very first album (cassette) that my parents bought me was Bobby Brown's "Dance, Ya Know It!" album because of "On Our Own" from the Ghostbusters 2 soundtrack. Look at those cameos:

He was talented before the drugs and The_Whitney ruined him, singing and dancing ("My Prerogative" and "Every Little Step" medley):

Crazy that the peak of his career came before he was old enough to legally drink and would never reach those heights again.

Hell yeah. I grew up in a black neighborhood and most of the stuff playing on the radio back then was great. New Edition, Debarge, Gap Band.... so many good songs.

Ya mean "Roni", don't ya? And "Every Little Step" is awesome. The whole New Jack Swing genre had tons of great songs, in fact: Al B. Sure's "Nite & Day", Keith Sweat's "I Want Her", New Edition's "If It Isn't Love", Bell Biv Devoe's "Poison", and a ton of rarities that I listen to like Roger Troutman's son Roger Troutman Jr. recording as Lynch on "Magic Spell", Troy Johnson's "The Way It Is", etc. So much great music from that genre.

This would fall into the "albums I haven't listened to in 10 years catagory"

Great song and there were quite a few hits on that Don't Be Cruel record. Really...we should start a thread about albums that had 5 or more hit singles! It's really amazing when you think about it no matter who the artist it or the time period.
They were all cross over hits. They appealed to negro youth and the white people too. People who could dance and people who carved ANTHRAX into their jeans and school books. I miss those days sometimes.
