If a SAG name is taken (Michael Douglas) then a Michael Keaton has to choose another, but, if it became available, a performer might attempt to change it back legally for certain reasons.

Oddly, Geddy Lees legal name is Geddy Lee, but his kids use "weinrib".

Wasn't he born Gershon Eliezer Weinrib and Gary was a nickname only?

What about Neil Peart? Real name or Nikola Petrovič? You can't use him as a source as he has said both on various occasions. Also there's a version that it was his parents who changed from Petrovič to Peart.

More obscure but Shotgun Messiah frontman Bo Stagman changed to Bosse Belsen, then Zinny Zan and now he uses Stagman for his solo albums. Another Shotgun guy was born Thim Sköld, became Tim Tim, Tim and is now back to Tim Skold. Harri Kemppainen will never change back

Neil was born, lived, and died Neil Ellwood Peart. He and Rutsey were the only ones without stage names. Lifeson's name is a doosy of a Yugoslavian name, Aleksandar Živojinović.
