This popped up as a 2023 clip for Bon Jovi when I originally pulled it up. Appears, it was from 2020. So this wasthe version the band was trotting out three years ago? What kind of band was this supposed to be? Soft adult rock? The edge is gone completely. Outside of John‘s characteristic looks, he is so diminished in this role, stripped of any dynamics he ever had. I know he did more dates than just about anybody in his prime, but does he indicate some sort of mild dementia or is he just completely fried cognitively from the whole experience of years in the spotlight? The whole band sounds like it is dipped in NyQuil.

It's like they glued his feet into place to keep him from moving. Really is sad as he was an excellent frontman in the 80's. One of the best.

The last real Bon Jovi record was Keep the Faith. Everything since then was Jon desperately trying to morph into Bruce Springsteen. The problem is, we already have Bruce Springsteen, and Bruce at 74 moves around better than Jon has in at least 5 years.

Aside from trying to weasel his way into that genre, Jon's voice is too fragile. Springsteen and Mellencamp always had voices to fit their music, but like Petty, they aren't great singers. It just works. Jon was once a great, raspy 80s voice that is now worn out beyond repair. So despite the lyrical direction and more Americana style of songs, the window is about closed. It doesn't help his cause at all.
