Whether pointy or obtuse, what is this called
when the sound of movent along the fingerboard is audible? As in hearing finger movement along the strings, picked up by the recording. Is the fingerboard miked for this or is it relayed up by the pickups?

Sometimes the movement along the wound strings causes slight squeaking sounds and it's picked up through the pickups.
Re: Whether pointy or obtuse, what is this called
it's called fret noise here in KY and is usually caused by using some type of "finger ease" product that is sprayed or wiped on the strings to allow for faster movement without the drag. I actually listen for it and it doesn't bother me.

when i play next to a metronome, it's REAL easy to hear i'm a human regardless of excess string noise lol...pointy is what caught my attention as well...d.m.HueyRamone wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 4:52 pmThis, but some think it adds character and that human touch to playing.diablomozart wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 10:20 am i've always called it "a guitarist not picking their fingers up completely off of the strings in between chords" lol...d.m.
