I was young in the 70`s. My favourite band at the time in that era was ABBA. They still are.

ABBA, QUEEN, LED ZEPPELIN.

As far as heavy metal goes (in the broader sense of the term) nobody did it better than the trifecta of Zeppelin, Sabbath & Purple.
