Royal Blood - Seriously How Good Are They??

Post by SterileEyes1 »

Don’t think I’ve seen these guys discussed here.

Have a good friend who does concert photography in southern CA and he took me to their show in Del Mar last month. I’ve always dug everything I’ve heard in passing by these guys but holy shit was my mind blown. They’re easily the most stoked I’ve been on a rock band in at least a decade.

For the uninitiated, it’s a duo - badass drummer and a bass player/vocalist whose bass somehow makes them sound thicker than some 4-piece bands.

A lot of newer rock bands bore me. These guys just rule, and they know how to put on a show.

Here’s a live clip of the song Little Monster:

They’re probably best known for the songs Out Of The Black and Figure It Out. I’d recommend Trouble’s Coming, Boilermaker, and How Did We Get So Dark? as starting points.

Any other fans here?

They were pretty big in alt rock about a decade ago. Had some chick drag me to a couple of their concerts. I like a few of their songs, but I haven’t heard much from them lately.

I was playing the shit out of these guys a few months back. For me it's more Black Keys-ish. Super solid and just fun to listen to. Did you see the story a while back about how they supposedly dissed the audience? I thought it was hilarious, man some people are so uptight!!

I poked around and found this, it's kinda TLDR but if this chick doesn't like them its' a sure sign they rock!

They aren’t bad but I don’t listen to them on the regular. If I’m going to listen to newer bands I gravitate towards Blackberry Smoke, Wolfmother and a couple of others.

I had read about this in passing on their Wikipedia page the other day but didn’t go down the rabbit hole. Too funny. It’d be easier to make a list of bands who haven’t dissed a lame crowd at some point in their career.

Agreed that if this writer doesn’t like them, then they must be doing something right. Shading the drummer for swigging from a bottle of tequila onstage = this person has no business writing about a rock performance

Hell yes thank you for sharing. I’m so into them right now that I want to record a cover or two. If I do I’ll be referencing this.
