Actually didn't like them much as the original band and albums. Saw them twice and then decided that they REALLY sucked. Probably the worst band I saw in the 90's. They were basically shoe-gazers.
However, as an older gent I have been exploring them a bit more now and I really like the off-formula stuff Corgan does occasionally, like Monuments to an Elegy (with Tommy Lee as the drummer and not the original guy), and his solo album, Ogilala (just Corgan, a piano, and an acoustic guitar) - It's quiet awesomeness.
What's your take on The Smashing Pumpkins?

It's weird. Bought and loved Siamese Dream. Played the shit out of it.

I liked them a lot, but didn't care about a few more recent records. Jimmy C. is a great drummer though.
